The ranking of all Marvel movies, from worst to best

Until recently, the most popular movie franchises were Star Wars and Harry PotterπŸ‡§πŸ‡· Today, that place has been occupied by films from the Marvel universe. Before the release of Avengers: Endgame, We would like to observe, one by one, all the films in the franchise, to demonstrate the positive and negative points of each one of them.

O awesome.club considered the rating of the IMDb site and multiplied it by 10. We also used the rating of the site’s critics Rotten Tomatoes to obtain a more objective classification.

21. The Incredible Hulk (2008)

IMDb β€” 68 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 68.5

First of all, it is worth noting the wonderful cast of the film: the main roles were played by Edward Norton, Tim Roth and Liv Tyler. We should also commend the production work and the writers. However, this film premiered in the same year as Iron Man and fell behind in many ways: the main character seemed unheroic, the plot failed to impress viewers, and the special effects left a lot to be desired. For all that, we put it last on this list.

20. Thor: The Dark World (2013)

IMDb β€” 70 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 71.5

The main problem with the first 2 Thor movies is that he seems too correct, even a little false, which detracts from the plot. Not even the great cast, headed by Tom Hiddleston, who stole the spotlight with impressive charisma, was able to save the film.

The dark world, carries some sequels from the first film and failed to highlight other strengths. In addition, Loki’s character had less time, which also hurt the film. For all that, he was in second to last place.

19. Captain Marvel (2019)

IMDb β€” 71 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 70.5

The last movie in the Marvel universe is among the worst places because its spirit is much more suited to the first phase, when the main characters were introduced, and Captain Marvel is a very strong character with a key role in the final part of the fourth phase. . Brie Larson’s artistry is questionable, although she should have behaved like a steady, moderate woman.

The strong points of the film are the cat, the excellent atmosphere created from the 90s, the young Fury and Coulson and the soundtrack.

18. Iron Man 2 (2010)

IMDb β€” 70 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 72

Iron Man leaves no one indifferent, mainly due to the strength of the character. However, the second film was not a sure shot: the villain was uncharismatic, looked more like a parody of an evil Russian classic, and the plot did not present anything new. But the movie has great scenes that must be seen, especially the action ones.

17. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

O captain America have the same problem as ThorπŸ‡§πŸ‡· Nevertheless, the stories about Steve Rogers develop in an exciting way, making the audience less tired. So it’s worth watching O First Avenger. The WWII atmosphere is conveyed convincingly, there are good jokes and Peggy Carter (as well as the entire cast) is wonderful. But it’s a shame that Red Skull received less attention than it deserved.

16. Thor (2011)

IMDb β€” 70 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 76.5

The first Thor movie received higher ratings than the sequel because the plot was more original and there was more Loki screen time, which was critical.

15. Iron Man 3 (2013)

IMDb β€” 72 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 79

The first Iron Man set a hard-to-beat standard. Not even his sequels did, mainly because nobody wanted to see Tony Stark solving the same problems as before. Also, some scenes in that movie didn’t have the same dynamism, which is a big problem for a superhero movie.

The film was also marred by obvious technical errors. The low qualifications were influenced by the villains’ lack of personality, particularly the Mandarin. On the other hand, the film allowed the audience to get to know Tony Stark outside of the superhero image.

14. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

IMDb β€” 74 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 79

A typical problem with Marvel sequels is taking some comics and not adapting them in a way that makes them logical. Therefore, the plot of the sequence of The Avengers it gets a little illogical: the plan to conquer the world is ridiculous and the speeches are pathetic even when it comes to superhero movies. In addition, it is clear the work of the screenwriters, who tried to solve the problems and failed.

But the film is darker than the other: more terrible events and a large increase in the number of deaths, which gave strength to the plot.

13. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

IMDb β€” 71 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 82.5

The most memorable moment of the film is the scene after the credits. A noble aim and great intrigue are aspects that are missing from the film and that are concentrated in this single scene. In all the rest, Ant-Man and the Wasp loses to the first movie: the villain is weak, Ava looks a little out of place, the character’s motives are unclear, the quantum reality is not surprising, but there are a lot of cinematic techniques. The film is saved by jokes and action. Scenes with change in size are the strong point.

12. Ant-Man (2015)

IMDb β€” 73 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 84

11. Black Panther (2018)

IMDb β€” 77 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 88

In addition to several awards, the film received extremely high ratings from critics (97% on Rotten Tomatoes), but it didn’t make the Top 10 due to some reviews from viewers. This happened because the story did not fulfill the expectations of the public, who thought it was a Marvel action movie with a good dose of humor, and not a drama. Also, some people have said that the movie doesn’t feature the same star cast as other Marvel movies. At the same time, black Panther features all the components of a great superhero movie, so it must be seen.

10. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)

IMDb β€” 77 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 85

The phrase β€œI am Groot” will forever be fun, as will the entire movie. The writers took everything that was good about the first film and repeated it. The same crew and the same great soundtrack, some good jokes and a little drama save the story. In the first part, the important details were shown in flashback; now, the characters count them, which made the movie a little more boring.

9. Doctor Strange (2016)

IMDb β€” 75 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 87.5

Wonderful special effects, a charismatic protagonist and villain and well-built supporting characters. That’s what makes the movie so good. But the protagonist is like a mixture of Tony Stark and Sherlock, from the BBC series. Also, the special effects have already been seen in the movie. The origin and that’s why they don’t impress as much. However, Doctor Strange deserves the good rating; the film adaptation, while not perfect, is very good.

8. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

IMDb β€” 75 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 90

We’ve seen this scenario in dozens of other films: New York, schools, streets, always the same thing. The supporting characters are nothing special and the plot seems the same, since we know the life of Peter Parker.

But what caught the public’s attention? A compelling villain and a sympathetic protagonist. Usually, in Marvel movies, the hero fights to at least save the country; in this case, the protagonist cannot meddle in these matters. Therefore, he decides to capture street thieves. At the same time, the villain is also not a god or a genius, but just an ordinary man who has lost his job and wants to feed his family. All this brings the audience closer to the film and catches their attention.

7. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

IMDb β€” 78 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 90

In a nutshell: a superhero drama. The writers did a brilliant job: the motives of all the characters are understandable and generate empathy, there are almost no holes in the script and the final part deserves praise for the emotions and the special effects.

The creators of Civil war managed to avoid most of the typical problems we see in comic book movies. That’s why the film was so successful.

6. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

IMDb β€” 79 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 89.5

Despite the bad jokes, Thor: Ragnarok is sixth on our list.

Thor himself is great because he changes his way of acting a little bit. In general, the most outstanding in the film are the characters: Hulk (this is the first time he is represented as an individual), Hela looks spectacular, Skurge and Loki.

It is worth noting the unexpected ending: the writers abandoned the classic happy ending, which worked very well in this case. And another point that helps a lot is the music. Long live Led Zeppelin!

5. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

IMDb β€” 78 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 91

For many viewers, the film is boring, too long and illogical, but its strong point is the intrigue. During the story, something unexpected always happens, which makes the audience not understand if the fact really happened.

It’s not easy to surprise the viewer with film adaptations of comics; so we decided to put this movie in the top 5 on the list.

4. Iron Man (2008)

IMDb β€” 79 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 92

The first Marvel movie was a total success. The story deserves only praise: a super empathetic and convincing protagonist, memorable supporting characters, a well-structured and logical plot and well-constructed and spectacular action scenes.

It was the success of Iron Man that determined the fate of the entire franchise, showing the world how a movie based on a comic can be a huge success. At the same time, he became a kind of seal of quality, which only managed to be surpassed by 3 other films in the same universe.

3. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

IMDb β€” 81 / Rotten Tomatoes β€” 91.5

Guardians of the Galaxy There are some aspects that really catch our attention. Of course, we’ve seen several groups of superheroes, but in this case, they’re all ‘villains’, forced to work together against their will. At the same time, the film is much more immersive than the others from Marvel: a different setting, great jokes and spectacular villains. Also, the soundtrack is worth mentioning. In general, Marvel movies feature unknown music. This one features great hits from the 80s.
