The pain of a love that has not ended

The answers are even more treacherous than the questions. Nobody knows when it happened. Or how it happened. Much less is known why it happened. They parted for the sake of life. No, nothing happened and they never fought. Yes, they love each other very much. But each one went to a corner. Like a shoe that stands alone.

The two walked together all the time, walking side by side with each step taken. Until one day one of them got lost along the way. Nobody knows how it happened. Maybe on the way out of that crazy party when one of them hitched the shoe of the tall brunette at the bar, and the other came home desolate and alone. Or it could have been on the way back from a trip when the bags were hastily packed. One of them came back. The other was forgotten, lying at the foot of the hotel bed under the crumpled sheet. Perhaps it happened like Cinderella who leaves the ball and loses her glass slipper leaving the prince behind with the hope of one day finding her again.

The only thing that is known is that the love, like the pair of shoes, was beautiful and was not broken, torn, or worn out too much. Nor has it been stained or faded.

It is only known that today the two are no longer a pair, as one of the feet separated and left, leaving only one perfect foot alone. And that it will remain there forever completely without blemishes. Almost untouched.
