The case of the Spanish political leader who teaches how to say ‘Good night Cinderella’

Luis Mántarasthe coordinator of the Spanish party Vox in the city of Moguer decided to step down after a video of him was made public. The recording is about a plant called burundangawhich is used as a drug.

In the video he appears talking about how the plant can be used to dope women. “They say you give it to the mines, you give it to them and, I don’t know, they go crazy and… things happen… I don’t know… La Manada and I don’t know how many,” says Mántaras.

THE the herd what he is referring to is a group of men who revolted in the Spanish population years ago, for boasting about the collective rapes they committed. In 2018, the trial of the members of La Manada generated national commotion and mobilized large protests. As Mántaras points out, the burundanga was used by rapists to apply the “good night Cinderela” blow to the victims.

When the footage surfaced last week, Mántaras even said that he would not resign from his position at Vox – which is far-right. Trying to defend himself, he said that the video was intended to show how evil burundanga is. He also claimed that the recording is old and that it was only sent to a small WhatsApp group.

On Monday (28), however, he announced his resignation. According to the Spanish press, Mántaras manifested himself through a public letter, claiming that his removal has no connection with the video that surfaced.
