The Asturian alliance of Coke Malla

The alliance of the singer Coque Malla with Asturias has written another chapter. Nuptial in this case: after twelve years of relationship, the artist has married the Avilesian screenwriter and journalist Macarena Cabo, with whom he has two children in common. It was in El Escorial and, little by little, more things are known about the connection. Malla has uploaded an emotional black and white image to her social networks in which the bride takes center stage, hugging her “guaje” with a simple bouquet of flowers in one hand. Eyes closed. A future of love wide open. And very close by, Cayena and Óliver, who did not miss a single detail of their parents' ceremony.

“Well against all odds… I said yes. I'm finally the space witch's husband.” This is how the 52-year-old author of “I can't live without you” expressed himself on Instagram to accompany the image that symbolized the wedding held in El Escorial (Madrid).

This love song began in 2010, when the former Ronaldo and occasional actor met Macarena Cabo on Galiana Street in Avilés after a concert. The singer was coming off the end of a decade-long relationship. From those days he was inspired to compose “Termonuclear”: “Put your hands here and concentrate with me / there is a heart to repair. / Join the pieces and immerse them in wine, / everything is going to explode. / There will be nothing like it.” In 2012, her daughter Cayena (“Sleep”, the lullaby that closes “The Last Man on Earth” is dedicated to her) was born, and four years later her son Óliver was born. Macarena Cabo has a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid and has worked as a scriptwriter on Mediaset programs since 2018. In addition, she has worked for production companies such as Bulldog TV, Zebra or Mediapro.

The musician had given clues about his marriage by announcing during one of his concerts that Macarena Cabo had asked him to marry him. The bride praised her now husband in a text that accompanies his album “The Giant Astronaut”: “To say that Coque is a fascinating musician “is the easy thing to do,” Cabo writes, “but the world is full of prodigious musicians. The difficult thing is to be what Coque is beyond music. We met when he was composing 'Termonuclear'. The album that turned my life and his life upside down. The first time I saw him I didn't know much about his career but I had all the prejudices in the world: cocky, egomaniac… I thought he was a fucking asshole. But I was wrong, as so many people do with him every day without knowing him. Coque is of overwhelming nobility. Sincere. Elegant. Perfectionist. Detail-oriented. Inexhaustible worker. Pathologically generous. Sensitive like no woman. He flees from routine like the devil. He is intelligent, restless, shy, insecure and a terrifying friend. He is the only man in the world with whom I would have children, because being a father is another of the things that best knows how to do.”
