Music is a powerful tool capable of bringing a series of benefits to the body and mind, as it consists of a high range of frequencies capable of interfering with our brain processes. And no matter what genre of music you’re into, know that sound waves affect our breathing, heart rate, and even digestion and bones.
We, from awesome.clubwe love music and today we are going to talk about 8D technology, which makes the listener “feel” the sounds with the brain.
How does 8D music technology work?
8D audio technology, created in the 1980s by an Argentine engineer named Hugo Zucarelli, is on the rise on streaming platforms (and even has several playlists going around). Zucarelli’s idea was inspired by holograms; he developed a recording technique that results in multidirectional sound: when you listen through headphones, the sensation is that the sounds are coming from all corners, from outside the headphones and, depending on how the waves are manipulated, even from inside the head. Thus, it is as if you are “immersed” in the music in a very realistic way.
The first steps towards invention took place after a strong experience lived by the Argentine when he was only 10 years old. On the occasion, Zucarelli managed to save himself from a collision between two cars, as his ear was able to identify the direction of the sound waves in time. Since then, he began to be interested in the mysteries of sound frequencies.
In his youth he became a chemical technician and later an electronics engineer. His experiments led him to understand that sound actually comes from different directions to the human ear, which gave rise to holophony (3D music) and earned him awards throughout his career, including recognition from NASA.
The first binaural microphone developed by Zucarelli to test his ideas
Today technology has evolved and several brands manufacture headphones and microphones based on the technique.
Anyway, as much as we try to explain, you can only understand the feeling well when you listen. To hear and really feel the effects, you’ll need to use headphones.
Halo — Beyonce
Don’t Call Me Angel — Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey
Rolling In The Deep — Adele
Paradise — Coldplay
Girls Like You — Maroon 5, Cardi B
Over the Rainbow — IZ
My Shelter — Melim
Medicine — Anita
It is worth mentioning that the 8D versions of the songs included here in the post were not produced by Zucarelli, but by DJs who were inspired by the work done by him and tried to get the closest result possible. Currently, Zucarelli performs his versions only in theaters.
Wassup did you enjoy the experience? Tell us here in the comments 🙂
