If you’re one of those in tune with trends and social media challenges, you’ve certainly seen people testing the limits of their own body with physical activities. Here’s another interesting challenge: a youtuber decided to jump rope every day for a week. Sounds easy? She then decided to make it a little more difficult, and tested doing a thousand jumps a day with the accessory.

In a video on your Youtube channel, Mariana Banana said that she accepted the task because she wanted to get out of her comfort zone and find out what would happen to her body after seven days. Throughout the challenge, she noticed that it took about 22 minutes to do all the jumps, but she increased the intensity by proposing to reduce this time with each attempt. Check out the impressive result:

Before you start, she recommends investing in proper equipment, as well as good cushioned shoes to prevent injury. In addition, experts recommend:

Choose a flat surface with no obstacles to avoid falls and accidents; Remove furniture if you are going to train at home; Contract the abdomen during jumps; Keep your posture upright and look straight ahead (not down); Keep your feet together, your legs slightly bent and don’t jump too much (little jumps); Land on the balls of your feet (avoid doing this on your heels).

As jumping rope is considered an aerobic activity, its regular practice improves exercise tolerance and cardiorespiratory endurance. In short, you can “make repetitive efforts for longer. Because it is recreational, it also helps with relaxation, reducing tension and managing stress”, says sports doctor Páblius Staduto Braga, from the Center for Specialized Medicine at Hospital Nove de Julho.

If you are interested in the modality, the specialist recommends that you start slowly, with short sessions, and increase the intensity as the exercise becomes less and less tiring.
