Miss Canada gave a great response to criticism about her body – GOOD SHAPE

Miss Canada Siera Bearchell — who is running for the title of Miss Universe, which will be awarded at the 65th edition of the pageant next Sunday (29), in the Philippines — was the target of harsh criticism of her body on social networks.

One of the 16,000 followers on his account on Instagram commented, last week, in a click shared by the 23-year-old: “What happened to you? Why did you gain weight? you are losing points [na competição].”

The Canadian native of Moose Jaw hit hard at the opinions that tried to undermine her self-confidence on the eve of the contest. Siera said it’s perfectly natural that she doesn’t weigh the same weight as when she was younger — at 16 or 20 — because that’s part of the development of the human body. And that although she doesn’t have the same measurements as before, she feels more “confident, capable, wise, humble and passionate than ever before.”

I’m safe and that’s what makes me beautiful. When you call me lazy, fat and mediocre, what are you saying to the women of the world? Miss Universe is an organization built on inclusion and diversity. It is no longer the ‘beauty pageant’ it used to be. Miss Universe’s mission is to provide the tools for women to achieve their best selves and use their abilities to do good for others. That’s exactly what I’m doing and I’m not going to be brought down by superficial negativity. In fact, negativity only fuels my desire to continue working in an area that still needs a lot of progress. My journey has just begun“, she vented in one of the photos.

And if you think you stopped there, you are wrong. The Canadian added: “As soon as I started to love who I was, instead of always trying to fit into what I thought society wanted me to be, I gained a new side of life.”

Siera also commented that she was once subjected to exaggerated diets that focused on “intensely restricting her food intake” and that she felt extremely unhappy and ugly because she thought she was never “thin and beautiful enough”. “Our lives are fluid, dynamic and constantly changing. So are our bodies. My body is not naturally thin and that’s okay. I am healthy. I’m in shape. I am confident. I’m me. This is who I am now and I’m fine with myself and you should feel that way too,” she told her followers.

Good winds

The committee that organizes Miss Universe established an important change in the North American Miss Teen pageant, held periodically in July. Instead of the young women parading in bathing suits, as was common in all editions, from now on, they will wear gym clothes – which points to an appreciation of the practice of activities that promote health and well-being.

The president of the Miss Universe Organization announced the news saying that “the team is committed to continue to evolve to celebrate the strength, confidence and beauty of women.” And she added: “We need to recognize these girls for the strong and inspiring people they are and not for their beauty.”
