His most recent adventure on stage is Keys — A Musical Tribute, who toured the country. 8. Cinthya Rachel (Tang)

Cinthya Rachel was revealed to fame with a Tang juices campaign launched in 1987. With the success she had, she soon gained television, acting in teledramaturgy, presentation of variety shows, educational series and other productions.

The girl even “walked” through music, being part of the group Jairzinho e a Patrulha do Noulho (pictured below). Her greatest success, however, was playing Biba from the children’s Castelo Ra-Tim-Bum, on TV Cultura, from 1994 to 1997. Today Cinthya lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with her husband and two children. She works as a dubbing director.

7. Roberto Arduin (Sukita’s Uncle)

Actor Roberto Arduin was hugely successful in a soda campaign in which he played a middle-aged man who flirted with his much younger neighbor. The series of commercials lasted from 1999 to 2002 and Roberto became known as Sukita’s Uncle. He earned a degree in architecture, but followed his passion for the stage and began acting in 1982. Buoyed by his commercial character, he did work on popular soap operas such as Chiquititas (SBT) and Workout (TV Globo).

Roberto hasn’t completely abandoned architecture and sometimes does a project, but only for his closest friends. He continues to work on television and in the theater — one of his most recent successes was the São Paulo production of the Broadway musical The Rebel Sounds. NoIn the photo below, Arduin poses with the children’s cast of the play.

6. Valeria Sândalo (TC Bamerindus)

In 1992, actress Valéria Sândalo made everyone laugh as a telephone operator who won a cash prize in a commercial for the extinct Bamerindus bank. Happy as hell, she crossed the hallway of the firm jumping rope with the telephone cord and laughing.

At the time of advertising, which marked a generation, Valéria was already acting on the stages of São Paulo in dramas and comedies. Her artistic agenda, however, began to thin out in 2005, when Patrícia decided to dedicate herself fully to her son Mateus (with her in the photo below), diagnosed with autism. She graduated in Psychology to deepen her understanding of the subject and have a broad understanding of her son’s condition.

4. Sebastian Soul (C&A)

Sebastião Fonseca started early in the arts, as a dancer. In 1989, he got his golden break when he starred in a song-and-dance commercial for fashion chain C&A, inspired by the film The Blueface Brothers (1980). The refrain “abuse and use” and the charismatic figure of Sebastian (stage name) won over the public and he recorded numerous publicity films between 1990 and 2010.

Sebastian also participated in store launches, signing autographs for the public, and in motivational events for the chain’s employees. Today disengaged from the brand, he pursues a career in music and theater. He dedicates a good part of his time to the Núcleo de Artes Cênicas Sebastian project, in the city of Osasco, in the state of São Paulo, where he teaches theatrical techniques to children and young people.

A curiosity: the voice of C&A advertisements was not that of Sebastian, but of a voice actor. The artist’s high spirits, however, remain as usual, as shown in the photo below.

3. Carlos Moreno (Bombril)

Actor Carlos Moreno has the longest career in Brazil as a poster boy. Although he has done other campaigns, his image is irremediably linked to Bombril, a brand for which he recorded 344 commercials from 1978 to 2004, when his contract ended. But he returned to do commercials for the company on several occasions.

Carlos Moreno also participated in the children’s program Ra-Tim-Bum, in which he played Euclides, and several theatrical plays. One of his most recent works on stage was Musical Florilégio II — On the Radio Waves (pictured below), in which Moreno, actress Mira Haar and the cast paid tribute to great names in Brazilian and world music.

2. Rust (Orthopé)

Luiz Alves Pereira Neto, nicknamed Ferrugem because of his freckles and red hair, started on television at the age of 8, in a children’s program on the extinct TV Tupi, in São Paulo. In 1977, he conquered the country with the advertisement for Ortopé shoes, with the jingle: “Ortopé, Ortopé, so cute”… Anyone who lived through that time will not forget!

Due to the low production of growth hormones, Ferrugem played several child roles during his adolescence and until the beginning of his adult life, participating in several Trapalhões films and acting as a judge in auditorium programs.

Today he dedicates himself mainly to rock — he is a drummer and music teacher. But now and then it appears in the movies, as it happened in The clown (2011) and A Letter to Ferdinand (2020). In the photo below, a click with Angélica at the time of Children’s Clubfrom the extinct Rede Manchete.

1. Zofia Burk (Toothpick Gina)

Many people don’t know, but Zofia Burk, the girl who has been on the packaging of Palitos Gina since 1975, was a top model, participating in several fashion editorials and haute couture shows throughout Brazil. She was born in Poland and arrived in Brazil when she was 5 years old.

Zofia left the modeling profession at the age of 32, worked for a credit card company and later opened a travel agency. She lives in the neighborhood of Sumaré, in São Paulo, and prefers to keep a low profile about her personal life, although many people still seek her out for interviews.

The fact is that Gina’s packaging is a Brazilian icon and even inspires fun Carnival costumes, like the one in the photo below, created by a reveler in Recife.
