Santander Challenge: how 5 women changed their bodies and habits –

At the end of 2017, we selected five readers to participate in the #DesafioBoaFormaSantander. Since then, as you’ve seen here and on our social media, they’ve really sweated it out in pursuit of different goals (losing a few pounds, lowering their fat percentage, running more kilometers…).

Over time, the numbers gave way to much more important purposes: the women proved that saving a few hours a week to exercise in the gym stations, in the training trucks and in the academy of the Santander (all open-air) is the first step towards gaining well-being and boosting self-esteem.

At the beginning of the challenge, six months ago, Amanda cried when she saw herself in a top and leggings on the pages of GOOD SHAPE. Until then, she didn’t realize the consequences of years of sedentary lifestyle, despite the constant shortness of breath. But, with patience and dedication, the makeup artist achieved victories – minus 17 kilos! – which made her much more comfortable. “My Instagram account was pretty low-key. Now I take full body pictures!”, she says.

As the intensity of functional training led by the personal trainer increased Cau Saad, her clothes were looser and showed that the effort was paying off. In the end, our reader lowered her fat percentage (from 37 to 30%), improved her blood tests and gained a new lifestyle, full of endorphins. “I started moving from bicycle and I discovered that I can have fun in a more active way than spending Sunday on the sofa.”

This change was good for me. self esteem and drove away the weariness.” Even her clients say that the businesswoman is different, with more energy.

From now on

as the brand of 10K already left behind, Fabianne’s next goal is more ambitious: that half marathon from Paris, France! “She needs to maintain the regularity of functional training and race to complete the race in good time. I have full confidence that he will succeed!”, says André.

Unlike the other readers, Jessica was not sedentary. she trained bodybuilding, but without guidance, and because of that, I didn’t see many results. “In the first few weeks of the project, it felt like I had never exercised because every workout was such a challenge,” he says. “With each session, I learned something new at a very dynamic pace, which was great for not getting bored.”

In addition to meetings with her trainer at 6 am at Santander’s gym stations, the press officer completed her routine with other activities, such as dance. “Thus, her body received different stimuli and got out of the sameness, which enhanced the achievements”, says the trainer. Bruno Mendes. The result is visible: the mannequin dropped two sizes (she is wearing a size 38) and Jessica had to change her wardrobe.

“The challenge brought definite changes to my routine”, says Jessica, who swears that she left behind her old habits of eating a snack for lunch and just chatting at the gym. “If she stays focused while training and changes the exercises every month, I’m sure she’ll keep going”, guarantees Bruno.

But Débora did well between burpees and heavy plates. “The focus at the beginning was to gain body awareness and strength,” says the coach. Marcela Gorgulho.

Everything was going very well until a forced break: Débora had chikungunya and had to rest for a few weeks. Even that didn’t take the mood out of the duo. “Despite still feeling pain in my hands, I returned to training as soon as the doctor cleared me. It was easier thanks to the beach look and Marcela’s high spirits. I left there better than when I arrived.”

From now on

Even after the challenge, Débora guarantees that she will continue to be present four times a week in the free CrossFit sessions at the Santander training truck. “We are going to intensify the gain of muscle mass”, says Marcela proudly.

Karita was the typical “fake skinny”who, behind her petite body, hid a high percentage of fat. “I was afraid of losing too much weight with fitness ballet. But I only benefited from the modality”, she says. “I gained body awareness, stretching and a more beautiful posture. I thought that was not possible as an adult.”

“I understand that there is no reason to go back to being sedentary.” After all, just a station in the middle of the city and a few pliés are enough to keep the tonus conquered and stay dry.
