Many women dream of a radical body change because they don’t like what they see in the mirror. This was not my case. I didn’t stop playing sports or starting a diet out of laziness, but simply because I accepted and loved myself, even though I weighed 90 kilos at 19 years old. Of course, sometimes it bothered me that I couldn’t go to a party with the dress I wanted and things like that. But in general, I didn’t care about my measurements. Even because I never suffered rejection – on the contrary: I was the only one in the group who had always had a boyfriend. Little did I know that one of them would become my great training partner…

When my current one and I first met, it was gigantic. He was very active because his parents ran gyms. So he exercised a lot and worried a lot about his health. Meanwhile, I, chubby since I was a little girl, attacked coxinhas and was completely addicted to cheese bread. Despite the divergences in our lifestyle, we started dating. The relationship worked for three years, but then we broke up. We were separated for a year, and in that time I lost 40 pounds.

My change started when my brother came to live in São Paulo and offered me a month of classes with his personal trainer. I did an hour of bodybuilding and an hour of cardio at my condo’s gym. At first, I wasn’t able to walk on the treadmill even for 15 minutes. My leg hurt a lot. But I didn’t give up! I was determined to be able to walk for an hour even if it took a long time.

In just seven days, I already felt a difference. Some clothes got looser and my face got smaller. I don’t even know if that was real or if I was seeing things, but the important thing is that I felt very happy. In the first month alone, I lost 8 kilos, but I wasn’t content with that. I continued the exercises and started to control myself when it was time to eat. I even made a promise to cut the cheese bread for good!

A year later, already much thinner, I met my boyfriend again. He was shocked! We got back together and I continued to lose weight. Currently, we have a completely different routine than before. We are dedicated to healthy living and train together whenever possible. After this turnaround in my body, I created an Instagram account, which helped me not to lose focus and shed another 6 kilos, making a total of 24.

I try to feed myself in the best possible way and reduce the quantities a lot. Before, it was at least two huge plates at lunch. Today I make smarter choices (I try to put 50% salad, 25% protein and 25% carbohydrates) and I don’t repeat at all. In addition, I started to face the workout religiously and I never miss it. I mix functional training, double spinning classes, walking on the treadmill, transport, stairs.

My goal is no longer to lose weight, but to look in the mirror and like what I see. For me, losing weight meant much more than conquering a beautiful body. I began to face life in a different way. I live challenging myself! My next adventure? Being able to run long distances!
