It can be difficult to rest during a busy week of study and work. We are so grateful for God’s promises that help us find rest in the midst of challenges and a peace that is truly beyond our comprehension. Today we offer this prayer of rest for you.

Try not just to repeat it, but to meditate on each sentence and try to make it an inspiration to use your own words to talk to the Father.

Prayer to calm the heart

Father, we know that You want good things for Your children. Through the difficulties and anguish we face, we know that the Lord fights for our good. We can rest safely in His arms, knowing His victory is certain and that You will accompany us on our way. I thank you for the promise that there is nowhere we can go but your presence and your unconditional love.

The Lord created me and knows every part of my being, so I pray that Your Spirit will find and sustain me. It can be hard to find rest when facing a daily grind, so I ask you to multiply every minute of rest I get. Help me to take advantage of Your endless resources. I ask the Lord to teach me how to choose rest:

Teach my mind to rest in Your truth.

Teach my heart to rest in Your love.

Teach my body to rest in Your peace.

As I rest in You, I ask You to fill me with Your joy, abundant life, and peace. I also ask that Your perfect wisdom guide me to the right decisions. Help me show others the way to Your presence.

Thank you, Lord, for Your promises and Your strong hand that leads me through the days. Please teach me Your ways and lead me to rest. I love the way the Lord cares for me.

Amen.
