Ukrainian photographer Roman Pashkovsky promoted a curious project. He placed an advertisement in several public places, in which he promised to pay 50 hryvnia (equivalent to 10 reais) to anyone who agreed to be photographed. After the photo shoot, Roman further asked each of the participants, “How are you going to spend that money?” and published the responses along with the photographs. The photographer admitted that the black and white photos he took became a starting point for him to understand and approach a world completely different from his — that of people who find themselves between poverty and extreme poverty.
