Many, upon hearing the word “sculpture”, immediately associate it with a representation in white marble. But this is not entirely correct, not least because the classical statues of Antiquity were, in fact, colored. Scientists managed to discover this interesting fact thanks to technology ranking light, which consists of using ultraviolet light to illuminate the sculptures. In this way, it is possible to see even the smallest residues of paint pigments and discover what the work really looked like when it was finished. And they found that the ancient statues had an appearance as varied as the modern ones that we are used to seeing in everyday life.
