Ended? 7 ingredients that can be substituted in recipes

Cooking can be a pleasurable activity, but for those who do it every day, a little flexibility and knowledge of ingredients is very necessary. The creativity that needs to be employed in the kitchen has to do not only with the type of food chosen for the menu, but also with the way it will be prepared before going to the table.

There’s nothing more irritating than starting a recipe and, after “getting your hands dirty”, realizing that you don’t have that particular ingredient at home, essential for it to be finished. At these times, some exchanges can be made without prejudice to the final result.

1 – Beer

Some recipes ask you to include a glass or can of beer, to help season roasts and pot roasts, for example. If you don’t have beer at home or prefer to keep alcohol out of your kitchen, the solution is very simple: use beef broth. Since the purpose is just tempering, the replacement won’t make much of a difference.

2 – Bread flour

Widely used for breading, breadcrumbs are the typical ingredient that usually “disappears” from the cupboard when you need it most. If you currently have dry bread available, blend it in a blender to obtain the flour. If, on the other hand, this is not an option, just crumble crackers or crackers – the effect is the same.

3 – Corn syrup

Several recipes use corn syrup in their composition. But unless you’re a full-fledged cook, you’re unlikely to have corn syrup at home. Therefore, as it is used to replace sugar, you can exchange it for another, much more popular product: honey.

4 – Sour cream

Used in practical recipes like stroganoff, sour cream is not always on hand. If you’re already halfway across the table and suddenly realize you’ve run out of sour cream, use milk instead. Just add 1/3 cup of butter tea to ¾ cup of milk tea.

5 – Eggs

Anyone who has never started a cake and, only after mixing several ingredients, realized that there were no eggs in the fridge, doesn’t know what it’s like to be angry. Believe it or not, they can be replaced with nothing less than mashed bananas with yeast. Half a banana and half a teaspoon of yeast equals one egg.

6 – Oil

Another ingredient whose substitute is almost unbelievable. Swap the oil in your recipes for apple. That’s right, the fruit. In addition to being less fatty, apples are a good option to include more fruit in your diet – and the difference can’t even be noticed. A cup of apple is a perfect substitute for a cup of oil in cake and cookie recipes.

7 – Sugar

Some people like to have healthier alternatives to use in place of white sugar – whether refined or not. A good option is brown sugar. The ratio is 1 and ¼ cup of brown sugar for every cup of white sugar. Another proposal is to use ¾ cup of honey for every cup of white sugar.
