Mom Squirrel Thanks Her Baby’s Rescuer in the Cutest Way

Baby squirrels can be a little clumsy and awkward when they start to make their first moves. That’s why it’s super common for them to fall out of their nests. However, this little critter was lucky to fall out of his ‘nursery’. He was saved by Indian photographer Rahul Sharma, who fed and cared for him until his “mummy squirrel” could take him back.

Sharma was having breakfast on the porch when she looked down the street and saw a small squirrel on her doorstep. Without hesitation, he hurried to save the animal from a hungry cat or dog, who, if he found it, would see it as a delicious morning meal.

Rahul cleaned up the squirrel as gently and carefully as possible, as the little pup was extremely tired of fighting the dirty gutter it had fallen into. Thanks to Rahul’s kindness, the little animal soon felt safe in his hands.

The squirrel rescuer immediately went to a store to look for a dropper to feed the baby. Rahul also sent the photo of the animal to his friends and they quickly fell in love with the little one.

So he created a little house out of an old shoebox for the little squirrel. He observed with excitement that the little animal was starting to enjoy playing in its temporary home. After a few hours, when the puppy regained some of its strength, it began fearlessly jumping all over the place, including Rahul’s hands and shoulders.

The photographer took some photos with his new friend who, apparently, enjoyed the session, behaving like a true model.

However, after a while, the baby squirrel left Rahul’s hands hurriedly, when the two noticed that another squirrel was running towards them.

It was the mother who, worried, had appeared to save her baby!

Rahul noticed that the mother was afraid to approach him. However, she wanted her puppy back, so she put her fears aside and, with all her courage, went towards her little one, who quickly jumped into her arms.

The mother squirrel studied him at least 10 times in a row before looking up to her baby’s rescuer. At first Rahul had no idea what was going through Mommy Squirrel’s mind. Was he a hunter? Or a good guy? Then the animal approached his outstretched palm and touched it gently with its muzzle.

Rahul was surprised to feel the female squirrel’s gratitude and felt beyond blessed. After that, she picked up the baby squirrel and took it to the nest.

The photographer nearly cried as he couldn’t believe how lucky he was to be able to observe that magical moment of unconditional love.

Although Rahul had always dreamed of having a squirrel as a pet, he was happy that he was able to save a life and help the baby safely return to its nest.
