Mega hair: know the different types –

Voluminous and full hair is the dream of many people, but not always the reality. Whether due to genetic issues, diseases such as alopecia, hormone problems, use of medication, accidents in which people lose part of their hair or chemical interference, often the dream hair is only in the imagination. Or stayed.

Laís Leonor, dermatologist at Dr. André Braz explains that the term mega hair covers the appliqués and extenders and each of them is used depending on the purpose they are proposed, such as adding volume or lengthening the hair.

You appliqués they are removable accessories fixed to the hair through barrettes (“tic-tac”). already the extenders they are fixed by glues, adhesive tapes, metallic rings or even by sewing directly on the capillary rods.

“Adhesive techniques have been highly sought after, due to the fact that it is imperceptible to the touch, light and does not cause traction. It is even highly recommended by dermatologists and hair therapists”, shares Janny.

But what is traction? According to Laís, the tension in the strands caused by these fixation methods can lead to traction alopecia, which is hair loss caused by excessive, repeated and prolonged traction – especially in fine and chemically treated hair. “In the early stages there is local inflammation that manifests itself with discomfort, redness, flaking and, eventually, pus points. Initially, this process is reversible, but if persistent, it evolves to the permanent loss of hairs”, he warns.
