If you are looking for natural substances to ease the battle against that stubborn belly bulge, the news is brown seaweed. “Originally from Norway, the Ascophyllum nodosum contains a surprising amount of antioxidant compounds which make the body less resistant to insulin and, consequently, less likely to store fat”, says pharmacist Cláudia Coral, from São Paulo.
This sea vegetable also has two other strong points against the extras in the abdominal: it satisfies and has a thermogenic action. Found dry in manipulation pharmacies, inside capsules and sachets or in bulk, nodosum can be used together with spices to season food. The pharmacist recommends 2 grams per day, but be careful: the seaweed should not be consumed by anyone who is allergic to seafood or has thyroid disorders.
