Magnesium: a simple and successful ingredient in skin care

Patricia Wexler, a dermatologist in New York, further to Refinery, explains that “magnesium protects the skin from damage caused by free radicals and inflammation and is a necessary ingredient for enzymes that regulate cell repair.” The specialist also says that it can help with red, dry and itchy skin, “many people end up using it topically for the treatment of acne and acne rosacea”.

For experts, the best ways to acquire magnesium to use in skin care are through magnesium hydroxide (found in milk of magnesia), magnesium PCA – which acts as a humectant – and magnesium carbonate.
