Learn more about giant otters and why we should fight to save them from extinction (there are only 5,000 of them left in the world)

Lobo e Alondra is the name of two giant otters that recently arrived in Argentina and were brought from Sweden and Hungary with the mission of reintroducing the species in the neighboring country. After the quarantine, these mammals, also called giant otters, will be released in the Iberá National Park. The project was an initiative of the foundation The Conservation Land Trust Argentina SA (CLT), with the support of Parque Zoo de Eskilstuna, Sweden, which donated the male (Lobo), and the Budapest Zoo, which sent the female (Alondra). The giant otter (Pteronura brasiliensis) disappeared from Argentine territory 50 years ago because it lost its natural habitat and because of hunting.
