Learn how to relieve headaches without medication

We consulted the homeopath and physiotherapist Aryane Evaristo, who gave tips on how to relieve headaches with some simple measures. Follow the article!

1. Chamomile tea for headache

Chamomile tea is indicated, mainly, when the pain is provoked in situations of anxiety and stress. The herb has a calming and relaxing effect, which helps to relieve pressure. “However, it is important to investigate the cause of the headache in order to choose a type of tea that is more effective, as there are several types and causes”, warns Aryane.

How to make

  1. Boil 1 cup of water;
  2. Add 1 teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers;
  3. Cover, let stand for 5 minutes, then strain;
  4. Sweeten with 1 tablespoon of honey and drink warm.

2. Lemon tea for headache

Tea made with lemon seeds is effective, but brewing it with honey and garlic has an even greater effect. Garlic is antimicrobial and has anti-inflammatory action, which helps relieve pain.

How to make

  1. Crush 2 cloves of garlic and place in a pan;
  2. Add 1 cup of water and let it boil for about 5 minutes;
  3. Then add half a squeezed lemon and 1 tablespoon of honey;
  4. Mix well and drink warm.

3. Which hand point for headache?

The Do-in technique, originating in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is a self-massage in which pressure is applied with the fingers of the hands at specific points on the body. In the case of headache, the point located near the 1st dorsal interosseous of the hand is pressed for 1 to 30 minutes. 4. Palmar reflexology

This technique can be performed in two ways. The first is by massaging the middle finger, in bracelet, pressing and sliding manoeuvres. The second way is to press only the fingertips in the morning, at night and at times of crisis at least three times, staying longer with the pressure on the middle finger.

5. How to Relieve Migraines Quickly

“It is possible to relieve it through acupuncture needles or auriculotherapy. Another option is to perform hot compresses associated with the medicinal plant arnica (spray, herb or gel cream). Or, still, have a massage, which combines myofascial release and contractures with stretching of the cervical region. Remembering that it is important to follow up and treat migraine so that there are no more recurrences”, explains Aryane.

6. How to relieve headache in pregnancy

According to the homeopath, “each case needs to be analyzed to identify the cause of the headache, however, to relieve the pain, some meditative practices, music therapy, color therapy, in addition to relaxing massages on the shoulders, back and especially in the cervical region (neck).” It is important to emphasize that pregnant women should avoid the consumption of teas, as some can be abortifacient, such as boldo and carqueja.

7. How to relieve PMS headache

“In this case, heat is a great ally, it is recommended to perform hot compresses, heated herbal bags on the shoulders and abdomen as well”, guides the homeopath.
