Long, curly hair with a lot of volume is almost certain to end the day in a bun or ponytail. But do not need be like that. “Today there is no shortage of good leave-in products that leave the defined curl and soft, a very different appearance from the crumpled one with the appearance of wet and hard touch from the 1980s,” says hairdresser Wilson Eliodorio. Cream or gel cosmetics are perfect for this type of hair, which demands greater control and hydration.
“Worth using a tip repairer to untangle the locks and only then spread the leave-in in a large amount from the roots”, suggests the hairstylist. With the product applied, Wilson separates fine strands, gently tugging each one of them so that the curls graduate. The process of “beating”, that is, shaking the head, is also indispensable here, as well as finishing with the diffuser. With long hair, keeping the volume on top of the head helps to balanceavoiding the triangular shape – the famous lampshade effect – of the hairstyle.

Hydration before and after
Hair curly or crespo calls for more hydration than the straight one. The explanation lies in the spiral shape of the thread, which favors the opening of the scales. After washing, preferably with a specific shampoo and conditioner for this type, untangling should be done with the help of a silicone-based product and moisturizing oils (argan, macadamia, ojon, for example). Then enter creams for styling, mousse, spray or other cosmetic for finishing. “Using only the oil as a leave-in is not enough to control the volume and define the curls”, warns Wilson. But the cosmetic can come back to the scene when the wires are dry. Spread a few drops in your hands, rub together and apply to your hair to ensure shine, more hydration and reduced frizz.
