When you’re in doubt whether loving that person was worth it or not, ask yourself these questions:

Would you choose this person, would you choose this hope, knowing that you would also choose this pain? Knowing that at one point in time, you would have to survive their loss?
Would you still risk everything for him/her?
Would you still love him/her?
Would you still stay up until 4am talking to him/her about silly things in life?
Would you still get on that plane?
Would you still forgive and trust without hesitation?
Would you still give him a home in your heart?

See, if the answer is no, then maybe what you got wasn’t love, maybe it was a lesson. Maybe you can still find some good in it.

But if your answer is yes my friend, then – don’t doubt if it was really worth it. Don’t make all those moments less beautiful in your mind, don’t make them into something you chose to forget.

If you did it all over again, if you still chose just a few more hours, a few days, or a few more years despite the inevitable loss, then you had something that most people will never find in this lifetime.

You had something worthwhile. Never forget that.
