“I want to be the first actress with Down syndrome to win an Oscar”, says young woman who works hard to make her dream come true

Lily D. Moore is a 17-year-old American girl who works as a professional model and actress. When she was 6 years old, Lily started taking acting classes at school. Since then, she has developed a love for the performing arts. His outgoing personality and his ability to interact with the public helped his early career to unfold satisfactorily. “My family says that I always knew how to make people laugh, and that it attracts them”, said the young woman.

Three years after the first classes, Lily went on to study at a theater in her city. “The whole time, I just wanted to act,” she explains.

It didn’t take long for the idea to become a professional to emerge. That’s when, with the support of her mother, the young woman went in search of a talent agency. After 20 refusals, she won the chance to do her first interview. “I auditioned, and it was all exciting, but I also faced a lot of rejection. However, that never stopped me. The first time Lily appeared on the small screen was in a commercial. “I filmed it at a local hospital, taking part in a training session so that nurses would know how to perform. It was fun, and everyone was so kind. They liked me so much that they asked me to do a commercial alone!”, recalls the actress. “I was very excited but scared,” she adds.

Some time later, the actress found out about the I never…, and decided to take the test. She won the role of Rebecca. “The character is intrepid, she always says what she thinks and pursues the dream of becoming a fashion designer”, she describes. “Her personality is very similar to mine, which makes it so much fun!”

For Lily, both this and the other roles she has already played made her realize how much she likes to challenge herself in order to bring new characters to life. “Become someone else for a while! I also like to meet new people, learn about life on film sets and travel”, she says.

When describing herself, Lily describes herself as someone who enjoys cooking, swimming, singing, hosting shows and experimenting with hair and makeup.

The actress loves the drama club and her pets: Charlie (dog), Lester (cat) and Hazel (cat). She looks up to Jennifer Garner, Debby Ryan, Cameron Boyce, Dove Cameron, Raven-Symoné and Mindy Kaling (she’s a huge Disney fan). “In a way, I suppose you could say I’m a standard teenager,” she says. “But I’m not standard! I was born with Down syndrome. Don’t worry, because my condition doesn’t interfere with my path at all.

Lily does not hesitate to list the film and television projects she has participated in, such as Paradise miracles and teachers, in addition to those mentioned above. The relationship also includes commercials, print ads and photographic series, in which she had the chance to work on her modeling side.

Despite having already been photographed by several photographers, she says that the profession of model is more difficult: “I have several scars on my knees and back, so I don’t get many opportunities because I don’t have a perfect appearance”. However, that doesn’t stop her. “I value my scars… they show how much I am a fighter, a warrior!”, She opines.

The young woman says she knows that there is still a lot to achieve in her career, described by her as “her passion, “her love”. She aims to become the first actress with Down syndrome to win an Oscar, and to land a major role in a television series or starring in a movie.

While dedicating herself to making this happen, Lily has a plan to continue enjoying life: traveling, having fun with friends and spending quality time with her family. In addition, she wants to take her message to other young people who, like her, want to be actors and actresses: “Go for it! You have to know that the work is hard, and that many people will say ‘no’. But if this is your dream, keep going and work hard! You can do it!”, she finishes.
