How to stop complaining about lack of time

The famous American writer Elizabeth Gilbert, from the book Eat, Pray and Love, loves to talk about the best advice she has received in her life. Once, she complained to a painter that she didn’t have time to create something, even though writing was the most important thing in her life. She said that she was turned down for three jobs, she was leading a difficult life, among other things. In response, the painter asked him:

What is the name of your favorite series?

Soprano family, replied.

Turns out you have time to follow the Sopranos, but no time to live your own?

In response, Miss Gilbert was unable to offer any apologies…

With that question, everything fell into place. She thought: if she can afford to watch the show every day but can’t find the time to do her dream job, that means the show is more important. And this is far from the only nonsense to replace a dream.

The team of awesome.club understands how difficult it is to keep pace not only with work, but also to constantly study and, in general, force yourself to do something. Especially for this we found some simple but great rules that will help you find time to learn something, in particular if you have a specific goal, a path to follow, a dream to achieve.

Rule 1: listen to audiobooks

According to some statistics, the human being spends approximately 3 years in transportation during his entire life. And what do we do, in general, during these trips? We listen to music, play the trendy game on our cell phones or, without thinking about anything, look closely at the other passengers. Now imagine how many gigabytes of information can be stored in your brain during these 3 years? Hundreds! Now, knowing these numbers, try to develop some habits:

Going by subway, bus, taxi are a good reason to listen to audiobooks. In the afternoons, when walking your dog…another good situation for audiobooks. At the gym, sitting during a session at the beauty salon, sunbathing on the beach, apply this same technique.

Rule 2: Watch TED conferences while doing your daily activities

What do you do while brushing your teeth? Tidy up your room? While you’re cooking dinner? Perhaps, like many, you put on a series or your favorite playlist.

Starting today, try an experiment: during everyday activities, place a TED conference with short speeches lasting 15 to 20 minutes. There are interesting topics like science and culture, for example. You won’t be able to imagine how your brain will be full of information after brushing your teeth.

Rule 3: Leave interesting articles for lunchtime

First tip: subscribe to interesting magazines on social networks.

Second tip: Save the interesting articles for lunch.

Rule 4: watch documentaries

Few people think about it, but this genre is no less interesting than artistic. Furthermore, a historical or social documentary will not only be interesting, but also more useful than another chapter of a telenovela.

Rule 5: Plan what you can do, not what you can’t.

In order not to become another victim of His Majesty Procrastination, you must necessarily consider drawing up a kind of personal development plan. In this case, it is a specific objective, and not just topics to study for leisure, although we must point out that this is not bad either.

Write down all the points you want to study. Describe how much time approximately you will need during the month, week and day. Put this list in a place that is always visible to you, for example, stick it on your desk at work or put alerts on your cell phone. In this way, you will be able to organize yourself. If, suddenly, looking at the schedule, you see that you have ignored your plans, you will immediately try to make up for lost time. Trust me, it works.

Rule 6: Get in the habit of learning something new at night.

Tell us the truth: do you also have the daily habit of surfing the Internet using your cell phone before going to sleep? Watch some new memes, see stories from people you follow on social media, read about Kim Kardashian’s newborn son, watch BBB and check out other “very useful” information for you?

Now think: what would happen if every day you saw interesting lessons or a documentary instead of this nonsense? See, there’s nothing wrong with watching a series or Big Brother sometimes because relaxing is also part of the game.

But your time is precious.

So again we return to the first rules. Do this every day before bedtime, when the brain is not distracted and absorbs information well. You will simply feel like a genius!

Try to follow these rules for at least 21 days. You will be amazed at the new knowledge that will fill your mind. Let’s bet?
