HOW TO PREPARE THE SKIN FOR WAX DEPILATION

Precisely to avoid these points, it is important, first, to pay attention to the temperature of the wax, then to prepare the skin to receive it, avoiding discomfort and complications in the post-depilation period, including when talking about ingrown hairs. “At least a week before waxing, do a skin scrub. The habit helps to eliminate impurities and fight ingrown hairs”, he explains.

On the day of depilation, care continues: take a bath with warm water, which helps to open the pores and reduce the amount of microorganisms present on the surface of the skin – thus, the hair comes out more easily and with less pain. It is also worth avoiding sun exposure on the same day you shave, as tanned skin is more subject to post-waxing spots, in addition to having a tendency to become more dry.

“In addition, it is worth using specific alcohol-free pre-depilatory lotions, as they help eliminate bacteria, clean the skin and increase the adherence of the wax, as they prevent cream or sweat residues from disturbing the depilation”, continues the doctor.

TIME TO DEPILATE AND POST-DEPILATION: WHAT TO DO?

At the time of depilation, the ideal is to spread a thin and uniform layer of depilatory wax on the skin over the region you want to depilate. “This must be done because, if there is a large concentration of wax and it is poorly distributed, you will not be able to remove all the hair from the area, in addition to causing irritation to the skin”, says Dr. Mariana.

The reinforcement, here, is valid: also maintain the proper temperature of the depilatory wax that you are going to use, and pull the hairs in the opposite direction of your birth. This way, you can pluck them from the root and leave the skin smooth, preventing the hair from breaking or not being removed in its entirety.

Different from what most people think, moisturizing the skin does not clog the pores after shaving. On the contrary! “Also, avoid tight clothes and give preference to lighter and looser clothes on the body”, he recommends. “The use of this type of clothing after waxing can cause skin irritation, leaving the shaved area more susceptible to irritation, folliculitis and redness.”
