Housewife loses 42 kg in five months just walking –

“Chubby child, overweight teenager, obese adult. There’s no way, if we don’t break this routine of sedentary lifestyle and bad choices on the plate early, destiny seems to be almost always the same. So I crack a smile whenever my 5-year-old prefers broccoli to French fries. And truth. She and my 9-year-old son often opt for juice over refrigerator. This is a reflection of the choices my husband and I make at home. Quite different from the old days, when I didn’t even have the energy to take the kids to the park: we’d stay on the couch watching TV all afternoon.

Just imagine… And that’s because I was always bullied in childhood for not being able to play with the other girls (I couldn’t even jump hopscotch!). I should be the first to encourage my children to be more active, right? But that took a while to happen. I went on crazy diets with just salad and vegetables and ended up running out of energy. I had already convinced myself that only gastric bypass surgery could solve my problem. But that all changed one afternoon shoppingwhen I decided that I would no longer struggle to find clothes in my size – I wore a size 56.

The first step was to organize the supermarket list to replace the ingredients used in the kitchen. Flour, bread and pasta were replaced by wholegrain options. Sugar gave way to sweetener and frying lost space at dinner. Changes that I already knew would happen, but that I postponed out of laziness to think otherwise. Everything that is comfortable is easier… So much so that in my closet there were only leggings, dresses and pieces with Lycra that helped me believe that I was not overweight (even reaching 107 kilos!)

Just by making these changes and starting walking on the treadmill in my building, I lost 42 pounds in five months. Yes, just walking! Just like in food, the exercise has to enter the routine in a pleasant way – with a little sacrifice, of course – and gradually. I started by setting aside 30 minutes a day, Sunday through Sunday, for the treadmill. During that time, I took the opportunity to think about my obligations and what I had to do in the coming weeks. That is, instead of traveling during the soap opera commercial, I put my mind and body to move, all at once. Bonuses inside and out.

In a few months, I could walk for two hours non-stop. So, I joined a gym to be monitored by a professional. There, I met women who were facing challenges similar to mine. We would go out for a walk on the street and talk about family, work and routine. Today, I even arrive early (at 7:20 am) to gossip before training bodybuilding. Having company makes a lot of difference. Together, we enjoy race. I don’t forget when I crossed the first finish line; I was already thinking about what the next test would be. The adrenaline and the feeling of freedom provoke a unique happiness. So I don’t miss running once a week.

Now, my goal is to gain lean mass – with the help of a nutritionist, I have already gained 6 kilos of muscle. Another goal: having the courage to wear a bikini. It seems silly, but it took me a while to accept that I had lost weight. It wasn’t until I bought the clothes I’d seen in the window that I became convinced that my body had changed. Today, at the age of 29, I already wear skirts and shorts and celebrate modeling 40. Much more than my shape, my mood is much lighter.”
