How are 10 famous Brazilian TV figures in the 90s and 2000s

When TV was our biggest source of information and entertainment, there were many figures we got used to seeing, whether in advertisements, cooking shows or auditoriums. At the time, it was so common to see them on screen, to the point that we couldn’t even imagine that one day they would be further away from the schedule.

“Let’s talk about good things?”, that was one of the catchphrases of Juarez Pontes, better known as Juarez da Tekpix, a product he sold for more than 12 years. He usually advertised the 7-in-1 camera on shows, talking to the presenter, or during commercial breaks. He started as a telemarketing salesman and became a sales leader, with that, he was called to be the brand’s poster boy. The camera stopped being sold in 2014 and, today, he continues to promote other products on smaller stations.

Chiquinho was the mascot of the children’s program Bom Dia & Cia, presented by Eliana in the mornings of the 90s and 2000s. The character was created and interpreted by Edilson Oliveira, actor, voice actor, comedian and puppeteer. He supported the presenter during the attraction and also created the Melocoton doll, having stayed by the blonde’s side for 13 years. Away from TV for a few years, he continues to present his characters at children’s events and social projects.

Daniel was famous for cooking on several TV morning shows since 1998. The first was Manhã Mulher, alongside Amaury Jr., where he stayed until 2000. In the following year, he became the head of Receita Minuto, then Bem Família e o Dia Dia, all at Bandeirantes network, where he remained until 2018. Today, the chef is out of TV, but continues in other projects, such as the book A Cozinha de Daniel Bork, which won three awards at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, which selects the best cookbooks from around the world.

Biologist Sérgio Rangel was a frequent figure on TV for presenting exotic animals and demystifying some information about the animals, always with a relaxed and quite simple tone. He started his career as a camel caretaker at the zoo and for 17 years he was with Gugu, Angélica and Eliana, with whom he became best known. Today, he dedicates himself to nature preservation projects, environmental education and lectures at universities.

Actress Vida Vlatt started the character Ofrásia alongside Clodovil Hernandes, in the program A Casa é Sua. She acted as the presenter’s assistant and commentator, gaining fame with her bumbling, sincere and funny way. After Clodovil’s departure, she continued with several presenters until 2006. More recently, she composed the jury of the program Canta Comigo and was one of the actors of A Fazenda. Today, she continues to publicize this and other characters on social media.

Professors at the Institute of Physics at USP, Gerson Santos, Daniel Ângelo and Wilson Namen are better known as “Eliana’s scientists”, due to their participation in the morning programs presented by her, until 2012. Afterwards, they starred in their own attraction, Ciência at Home on the National Geographic Channel. Today, they are dedicated to various projects, such as a digital library for science education, a collection of solar-powered toys, teacher training courses, in addition to the classic live science shows.

Famous for his costume, consisting only of a towel wrapped around his waist, Blade was one of the most striking figures on the stage of the Legendary show. In addition to his little clothes, he also drew attention for being tall and quite muscular, in addition to being famous for knowing dozens of choreography and dance steps. He says he’s been on TV since he was 14 and got a fixed role on the show when he was a funk dancer. After the show ended in 2017, he continued to invest in bodybuilding and a modeling career.

Elcio Coronato has participated in several projects on TV and on the Internet. He has worked as a reporter for MTV Brasil, the Kibe Loco website and SBT na Web; in addition to having participated in the YouTube channel Desimpedidos. However, he became best known for his paintings in Legendaries, employing hidden cameras to make behavioral tests, using disguises or sensing a situation on the skin. In 2019, he launched a YouTube project on social hacking and social intelligence, as well as his talk show Mind Talks.

Gorete’s most striking character, Filomena (or just Filó), became famous for the catchphrase “Oh poor thing!”. She debuted on TV in 1997, on A Praça É Nossa and then starred in her own show, Ô… Coitado!, on SBT, which lasted until 2002. Later, on TV Record, she participated in the Show do Tom and some soap operas. In 2018, she participated in Malhação — Vidas Brasileiras, where she acted alongside her daughter, Alice Milagres.

The brothers started on TV at the age of 20, in a part of the program Domingão do Faustão. Later, they began to participate in the program H, with Luciano Huck, alongside figures such as Tiazinha and Feiticeira. Then Gustavo joined the reality show Casa dos Artistas and his brother did the same in the next edition. Currently, they are over 40, but they maintain the good shape that consecrated them. They moved to the United States and became luxury real estate brokers, however, Flávio returned to live in Brazil and Gustavo remains in Miami.
