Hear ghosts of children who laugh and cry in the house

Hearing ghosts of children laughing and crying in the house.

Of all the paranormal phenomena that can occur in a house, the appearance of a child’s ghost is, perhaps, one of the most interesting, precisely because its characteristics differ noticeably from other types of similar experiences.

On this occasion we will try to analyze some of the main characteristics of this phenomenon, in part, because it is one of the queries that most often reaches our email. With the permission of the submitters, we will also share some fragments of those experiences to illustrate some points of interest.

Almost all researchers agree that the ghost of a child, sadly, acts without knowing that he or she is dead. They don’t really understand what happened to him, which plunges them into a deep state of confusion and a constant, desperate search for help. Although their manifestations can instill fear in the inhabitants of the house, in reality this type of entity simply seeks to attract attention to obtain the help of an adult.

Annie Besant, for example, maintains that one of the most frequent attitudes among ghost children is to become the imaginary friend of the child at home (see: Imaginary friends or real spirits?). As a general rule, long before the adults in the house detect that presence, the little ones have already established a bond of friendship and games with it (see: When children see ghosts).

Now, one of the most common ways in which the ghost of a child tries to communicate with the living is through laughter. In fact, this refers to one of the best-known paranormal phenomena: hearing the laughter of a child in the house – naturally, when there are no children there, or in rooms where there is no one -, as if they were playing or simply having fun at the same time. cause a reaction in us.

Lois Bourne comments on an interesting fact in this regard, and states that these voices and laughter of ghost children always occur in the most unlikely places in the house, that is, in rooms in which the listener knows perfectly well that no one is there; as if these entities were somehow trying to capture our attention, with extreme caution and timidity, but also giving us clear signs of the true origin of those sounds.

Laughter is most often heard in the bedrooms of the house, and rarely in common spaces, such as the dining room or kitchen, although it can also occasionally come from there. On the other hand, cries are generally heard in the darkest corners of the house, which almost always coincide with being the least visited by its inhabitants.

The presence of the ghost of a child coincides with other associated phenomena during the first stage of the manifestations. It is common for the inhabitants of the house, for example, to feel that something is breathing on their face when they are in bed (see: When something invisible breathes on your face just before going to sleep), and sometimes some experience may also arise apparition during the day—that is, feeling observed or feeling “presences” when you are alone—especially in the case of women. Already in a second phase, laughter and crying become fleeting appearances of small fugitive shadows that quickly pass from one room to the other (see: Human figures that walk through your house at night).

While the voices and laughter of ghost children can be heard at night, this phenomenon can also occur during daylight hours. In this regard, we share an experience that has reached our email:

I live alone in a fairly new house. I say this because normally nothing strange happens. But, sometimes, during the mornings, while I am getting ready to go to work, even with the TV on, I hear other voices in the background, first that of a child and then that of an adult man. One Saturday recently, I could have sworn there was a man and a boy talking in the next room, actually a man very aggressively challenging a boy. I could hear them clearly. The adult had a rough voice, like that of an old man. I went to that room on tiptoe. I was pretty sure I would actually see something, but nothing. It was very strange.

The same person adds one more experience:

Another day, while I was in the kitchen, I heard the sound of footsteps, like bare feet running down the hallway. The stride was too short to be that of an adult, in fact, it sounded exactly like a boy running barefoot. He honestly didn’t scare me. What scared me came immediately after: the sound of high heels, a woman’s, going very quickly behind the child’s steps. It gave me a feeling of atrocious anger.

The kitchen door was closed, and footsteps could be heard in the hallway that leads to a bedroom and the living room. That time I didn’t dare investigate, and I stayed in the kitchen for at least half an hour until I dared to go out. I ran into my room, and just as I closed the door, very briefly, I saw a boy with a very sad smile, looking at me, before running out. From the other end of the hallway the heels could be heard coming behind him. I didn’t get to see anything else.

A good part of these experiences coincide with the main elements that are usually observed when faced with the ghost of a boy:

to- Fear is rarely experienced in the presence of a ghost child. There may be some trepidation, but certainly not terror.

b- These types of presences are the most recurrent in the house, but there are also others, in general, associated with a hostile presence, which in some way stalks the children.

c- The animals in the house are not disturbed by the presence of a ghost child (see: Can cats and dogs see spirits?).

Other associated phenomena, strangely, have to do with humming sounds, and even songs and melodies, which seem to be whispered in the ears of the inhabitants of the house. They sound external, and make the listener have to turn their head quickly to see if there is someone behind them. In certain cases, single words are heard, and even complete sentences, which may or may not refer to the person listening to them.

Below we share another very interesting experience, which we have summarized, in addition to eliminating those details that are part of the privacy and identity of the person who sent it to us:

»Last week, just as I was falling asleep, I was woken up by a small voice that seemed to come from my left shoulder:

»—MMMMAAAAAMMMMIIII….

»I jumped up because I am conditioned to respond to those types of calls (I have two daughters), but then I realized that the girls were not at home that night (they were at their father’s). I looked at the dog, lying in the corner. He was very calm. Then I thought that maybe he had dreamed it, or that he was half asleep, and I didn’t think much of it.

»A few days later, with the girls at home, I was in the bathroom. From there I can clearly hear which room of the house the girls are in, and even if they are rummaging where they shouldn’t. Then I listened again, as if they were talking to me over my shoulder:

»—MMMMAAAAAMMMMIIII….

»I became paralyzed, physically, because my head was spinning. I was almost about to respond, but I stopped. I recognized the voice. It was the same as the night before. I ran out of the bathroom, went to the dining room and called my daughters. I asked them if they had called me, although I knew it couldn’t have been them.

»Like the first time, I tried not to give it importance. This time it was harder to let it go.

»A few days later, my daughters and I were watching a movie together in the living room. The dog was lying at the foot of the chair. Then we heard a loud bang from the other end of the room, where the library is. What we saw shocked the three of us: some books had fallen, apparently by themselves, but not just any books, just the girls’ children’s books.

»I am beyond skepticism at this point. I’m sure it’s paranormal, although I don’t know the reason or how I should proceed. I hope you can find some answers here.

For privacy reasons we will not go into further detail about what happened next. Suffice it to say that the experiences continued in our visitor’s house, and that they eventually ceased, as abruptly as they began. However, from time to time the phenomenon worsens, and disappears again, although with an increasing amount of time between one episode and another.

The last experience, which occurred this year, was told to us by our visitor regarding an episode that was told to her by one of her daughters, which we briefly comment on below:

»There is a room in our house that was previously something like an office, or a studio, where my ex-husband did some work. Now the girls use it as a playroom, where they have their toys, their things, in short, nothing strange. There is a very old, dilapidated chair-bed that has a peculiarity. When you stand up, after sitting or lying down for a while, you can hear the springs tighten. It’s a familiar noise, one that the three of us know well.

»The fact is that this week, for three consecutive nights, we heard that noise at the same time, around nine at night, when there was no one in the room. That worried us, of course, but the worst happened one night later, the fourth, when we all clearly heard someone jumping on the couch.

»I don’t mean an occasional noise, but an even, regular jump, along with some half-nervous giggles. This lasted about a minute. Then there was a loud, dull knock on the wall. The laughter stopped suddenly. The chair continued to complain a little, as if it had stopped jumping and the springs were beginning to return to their place. Then we heard a muffled cry. He couldn’t say for sure, but it sounded with the same childish tone that he used to laugh at before.

These types of experiences, we insist, are not as uncommon as we think; In fact, in almost every house with some history there are surely similar experiences, sometimes in the first person, others narrated by someone who has lived there for more years.

In any case, as we said at the beginning, the presence of the ghost of a child who laughs and cries in the house can certainly be disturbing, although at all times it must be remembered that these entities simply seek to attract attention and obtain help.
