“Hair slugging consists of applying oils and hair masks to damp strands, wrapping them with a sock or cap, so that the ponytail is inside the accessory and sleeping with the treatment on”, explains Dr. Renata Vasconcellos, dermatologist and trichologist. “It’s a potent form of hydration.”

HOW TO DO HAIR SLUGGING?

For Dr. Renata, these masks can be enriched with vegetable oils, to further enhance hydration.

“Other interesting elements are silk proteins, silicone and almond oil”, he says. “I don’t recommend using masks that are very rich in keratins and proteins, because they can make the hair a little stiffer.”
