When we exercise, we cause metabolic stress, forcing the body to generate an adaptation to recover. From there comes the improvement. Therefore, when planning your workouts, set aside a period for restoration – which does not make rest days a must, as long as, at least twice a week, you only do light activity. Another good idea is to alternate the limbs worked and the stimuli (strength or aerobic). But don’t forget to listen to your body, which sometimes needs to relax”, explains personal trainer Rafael Lund.
