Good Energy at Home: 10 Feng Shui Steps for Beginners

Good energy circling around the house is what we want, isn’t it? for the Feng Shui is there to guide us. “This is a Chinese technique known as the therapy of environments and it serves to harmonize the lives of people and spaces”, explains Mon Liu, consultant, lecturer and professor of Feng Shui.

The subject is serious, well studied and experts guarantee that you feel the positive result when entering the house! We’ve prepared 10 simple tips to put into practice that can make all the difference in your everyday life.

1. Invest in organization and fluid spaces

The first tip is to keep only the essentials at home – and in order! No stuffing objects, no saving what you don’t use, much less what’s broken. “By releasing empty spaces, we breathe better, allow positive changes to happen and work on detachment”, justifies consultant Mon Liu.

2. Keep your grand entrance

The entrance to the house is our business card, the first and last impression that remains. One tip is to place a wooden table in the hall (natural materials are always welcome) with vases and family photos, to bring positive energies into the home. “Plants can act as guardians as long as the lighting is compatible. The door must offer security, open without jamming and the lock must be working perfectly”, adds Mon Liu.

3. Let the sunlight in

Having a home bathed in natural light is perfect. “She symbolizes wisdom, self-knowledge, insights. Not to mention energy savings and better quality of life. People who don’t have contact with natural light can get sick, without vitality”, says Mon Liu.

4🇧🇷 Be careful with mirrors

They have everything to bring good energies: they expand environments, reflect clarity, call prosperity. But they need to be positioned in the right places. “If they are placed on the wardrobe door, reflecting the bed, they can alter the quality of sleep”, indicates Mon Liu. And at the entrance of the house, they cannot be exactly in front of the door – this could make the energy that enters hit it and returns to the outside.

5. The water needs to run

According to Feng Shui, water is one of the fundamental elements of energy and life. Having a fountain with moving water helps to purify the environment, in addition to bringing relaxation. And Mon Liu still warns: “If there are clogs at home, it may be a sign that emotions and prosperity are blocked. If there are leaks, money may be being spent on activities that are not necessary and emotions are out of control.”

6. Leave free space under the bed

Avoid putting things under the bed – no shoes, suitcase or objects you want to remove from view. Have you noticed that the Orientals’ bed is practically on the floor? Because the idea is to pull the vitality that the earth brings, so leave the area under the mattress completely free.

7. The bathroom must be isolated

Keep the toilet lid and bathroom door closed at all times. That’s because the bathroom can be responsible for draining the good energies of the house. Everything we don’t want!

8. Bet on colors

Studies prove that colors provoke different sensations. Feng Shui usually goes for the lighter and more neutral tones to conquer calm, but a good pinch of color in strategic places is welcome, like a red wall. Red dominates all colors, stimulates, brings happiness, fire heat and strength. But it should be used in moderation and combined with muted tones. Look for the feel you want and invest in color.

9. Abuse the power of plants

Filling the house with plants is an excellent way to bring the connection with nature inside. And each species has its own personal power: “singonium cleans the toxic air in the environment, in addition to promoting good feelings, as it has the shape of a heart; the tostão plant (or money in bunches) stimulates prosperity; the red rose refers to passion; and mint tea brings mental clarity”, exemplifies Mon Liu. And she reinforces that plants have the power to absorb a person’s negative energy that has become impregnated in the environment, drying up overnight.

10. Keeping an eye on the furniture layout

Avoid keeping the main furniture in the room positioned with its back to the door – for example: the sofa in the living room and the chair in the office. This can lead to a feeling of lack of protection and support.
