Former supermodel once lived on the street and now has a second chance

It’s hard not to envy supermodels. Their faces are on the covers of the main fashion magazines, they are invited to fashion week shows in the most beautiful capitals of the world and they are always the center of attention. Well, multi-million fortunes are, of course, another big plus. But supermodels are ordinary people who also make fatal mistakes and can be unhappy.

O awesome.club became interested in the story of Nastasia Urbano, the beauty who was at the height of her career in the 1980s.

The future supermodel was born in Switzerland but moved to Spain with her parents as a child. It was in that country where the beautiful young woman met photographer Fabrizio Ferri, who introduced her to the world of fashion and helped her conquer Europe.

However, at that time, only models who had contracts with US agencies could be considered truly successful. So when the Ford Models agency in New York offered Nastasia a job, she packed her bags right away. Working with Ford helped the girl to gain fame.

As Nastasia herself remembers, the American period was one of the happiest in her life. She was the main face of global brands such as Revlon and Yves Saint Laurent, participated in photo shoots for the covers of vogue🇧🇷 New Woman and redbook🇧🇷 And his salary was really high: even if he worked only 20 of the 365 days of the year, he earned about 1 million dollars a year.

At the same time, Nastasia became friends with many celebrities. She dined with Andy Warhol and Roman Polanski, went out with Jack Nicholson, went to parties with Melanie Griffith. Furthermore, she and her then-boyfriend actor David Keith were invited to Madonna and Sean Penn’s wedding. But they missed the ceremony because they suffered a terrible hangover that morning and simply couldn’t get out of bed.

Everything changed when Nastasia Urbano met her future husband. He was not famous, and the girl did not reveal his name to the public. To this day she has never done that. But the former supermodel said that on the second day after they met, this man told her that she wanted a better car than a BMW. Nastasia, in love and without hesitation, signed a check in her name.

Soon the young people got married and had two children. Nastasia’s husband never worked and continued to spend his money. When there was nothing left in her bank accounts, he left. Nastasia had to give up her modeling career to take care of her children. When her husband left, her financial situation was deplorable.

For a long time, Nastasia made her living by taking care of the elderly, but she had to leave this job because she began to suffer from arthritis, which prevented her from carrying out her duties. The former model was evicted from the apartment because she didn’t have enough money to pay the rent. Her children at that time already lived alone.

Sometimes Nastasia spent the night at friends’ houses, sometimes outside banks, which were open 24 hours a day for customers to use their ATMs. She even went so far as to ask pedestrians for food. The 57-year-old woman faced serious problems and had depression.

The daughter of the former supermodel, Rebecca, has an anxiety disorder, and Nastasia believed that she was to blame. Over time, she voluntarily minimized communication with her children. She knew they would do everything possible to help her, but she never asked them for anything. “They are adults, they have their own lives,” said Nastasia. “I want them to see me as strong, able to stand on my own feet.”

People who knew Natasia in the years when she worked as a model disappeared from her life for some time. Today some of them, after discovering how difficult her life is, decided to help her. First, they rented an apartment for Nastasia.

Former model Hernando Herrera offered to speak with photographers and representatives of modeling agencies who could offer work for Natasia. And the actor Daniel Mirabal organized a campaign to raise funds for Nastasia.

It’s been nearly 25 years since Nastasia’s last photoshoot before she once again posed for the cameras. Also, one of the famous Spanish modeling agencies is ready to offer you a contract.
