For love there is no end point

I never imagined that I would have to say goodbye one day. Separating from someone who hurt you is difficult, but having to put up with the days alone, away from the love of your life, borders on unbearable.

I have so much to thank you for that it would be foolish to try to enumerate each of the times I was better with you. I learned so much by your side that hardly a day will go by without your memory invading my life, in every small gesture we share, in what were the best months of my short and frantic existence.

I have never, at any time, met someone as brilliant as you and I deeply regret not being able to continue sharing the light that emanates from you. I know that the joy of sharing a life by your side will never be surpassed. Even if we cry an ocean of homesickness, and even if this ocean overflows and floods all continents, not even then, the sadness of missing that we will feel will be able to be greater than the happiness of having been one, one day.

Each of the songs I make, each of the little poems I write, each of the cities I pass through and each new person I meet will have a significant part of you, because I have no intention of forgetting you. and even if I had, I wouldn’t be able to.

I will keep in the best-protected safe of my chest, each of the most singular moments in which we are enough, to see them whenever necessary and hug them whenever your absence wants company. There will be days when living doesn’t make sense, like now, but if I can still ask you for something, I ask you to promise me that giving up will never be an option.

“The important thing about love is that it be infinite while it lasts”, said Eduardo Galeano, and at this point I’m sure we were extremely successful. I am immeasurably proud of the history we have built and, if for some misadventures it could not be continued, may it at least be celebrated in each of its glorious achievements!

When one day, in your time, the dust of sadness settles, smiles will remain; the endless arguments (always won by your aquariums, although I only admit it now); the sweat of our most delicious intimacies; the series that made us reflect and – sometimes – want to give up on life; the best kisses anyone can have; the desire to drop everything and escape in a motorhome and, above all, the most wonderful company we’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

All this and all the many other things that made us up during this time, are the parts that make our love the only thing that really matters and, I’m absolutely sure that we will never forget how happy we were and how much we gave. .

I feel that each of the pains that will be part of our lives during this next chapter are part of the price we pay for not being shallow. Depth is both a gift and a curse. Difficult times will come, but these will make us little birds and, one day, in the not too distant future, the memories that will cause us pain now will be the same ones that will help us rebuild our wings.
