Electrostimulation: what is the training that came back with everything among the famous –

You may have already seen it on your social media timelines. The vest that many celebrities have used to train has been around for some time, but now it’s back with a vengeance. But after all, what is it? Nothing more than an accessory electro-stimulation, which uses low-frequency electrical impulses (yes, like real shocks!) to enhance training effects. And in much less time: in just 20 minutes, around 350 body muscles are activated. With the advantage of not overloading the joints!

The benefits are very similar to those of bodybuilding. There is improvement in physical conditioning, weight loss, muscle mass gain, back pain relief, cellulite reduction and strengthening.

How does training work?

In electrostimulation, you usually wear the vest while exercising and functional movements. That is, with the weight of the body itself. The difference is that the electrical impulses, controlled in intensity and duration by the instructor or personal, make the movements a little more difficult to perform (yes, we tested it and it’s true!) precisely because they demand a huge amount of deep muscle fibers.

Jump rope, for example, is a physical activity with an aerobic purpose, so the muscle fibers most used in this type of training are the red ones. Electrostimulation training, on the other hand, also requires white women – deeper and more difficult to achieve with conventional gym training, especially for women”, says personal trainer Lincoln Cavalcante, creator of the TOP10Rounds method, from Rio de Janeiro.

Do I need to be an athlete to do this?

Quite the opposite! Although the technique appeared a long time ago for professionals, today it has been adapted for those who want quick results in the gym. “The frequency and intensity of training will depend on the student. I always try to put a smaller amount until he adapts. I wait for feedback and so I change the stimuli, avoiding any kind of injury”, says Lincoln.

He, for example, created his own protocol based on the martial arts with Xbody technology. Neuro Performance unites electrostimulation with kickboxing, jiu-jitsu and MMA movements. Each workout lasts 20 minutes and is separated into 2 parts of 10 minutes – the metabolic (20 seconds of stimulation and 10 seconds of recovery) and the strength and explosion (4 seconds of stimulation and 4 of recovery).

This format was even adopted by Kyra Gracie, the five-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion. “80% of the exercises are with specific fight movements, the other 20% alternate with exercises for the lower limbs for aesthetic purposes and to increase muscle stiffness”, explains the personal. Here’s a little bit of what it’s like:
