Do you want a suggestion to feel good? Happiness and Psychology

Hello friends!

At the end of this text, you can read a super technique to feel good, every day and at the end of the year. But before moving on to technique, I would like to talk to you about how our mind, like our psyche (psychology is the psyche’s field of study), has very curious ways of conceiving happiness and unhappiness.

For example, think of a time in your life when you were very happy… thought?

Well, the most common thing is to remember a moment when everything was working out, as if we had three wishes and the genie in the lamp fulfilled seven, ten wishes, that is, as if outer life was offering us much more than we we were waiting.

It could be the happiness of passing the entrance exam on the first try, getting a promotion and earning much more at work, meeting the person of your dreams and finding out that she also considers you the person of her dreams, it could be having a son, a daughter, to make that long awaited trip…

Anyway, each person will find in the past a moment in which he was extremely happy. What I’m pretty sure will be true is that in almost all cases, we’ll always think of external events. As if for us happiness always had to be dependent, a consequence of this or that. Without this or that, it seems that we cannot be happy.

Some people will be even more demanding. They will only feel happy when everything works out, in all areas and with great events. It’s like that wheel of rats, always looking and wanting what is not available and leaving aside what has already been done and, mainly, forgetting the small big victories of the day-to-day (the technique is about this aspect ).

Unhappiness, in turn, resides in the moments when people have the so-called setbacks of fate. Instead of everything going right, everything starts to go backwards, to go wrong, luck turning to bad luck. Though opposites in thought, happiness and unhappiness would thus share the same principle, dependence on external conditions.

Krishnamurti, a great philosopher of the East, once said, “This is my secret: I don’t care what happens. This is the essence of inner freedom. This is a timeless spiritual truth: Free yourself from attachment to outcomes, and – deep within yourself – you will feel good no matter what” ~ (Jiddu Krishnamurti).

Can you imagine putting yourself in a state of mind where no matter what happens you feel good? If you find this totally impossible, start with the technique below and start appreciating the little things.

Tip to feel good

I found this technique on facebook and so I couldn’t locate who was the first person to post. Anyway, if anyone knows who came up with the idea, let me know and I’ll give due credit:

“Take an empty jar or pot and put it in your room. Every time something good happens to you, no matter how small, as long as it made you smile, write on a piece of paper why you are happy, fold the paper and put it in the jar. On the last day of 2014 empty it and see how many little gifts life has given you. Do this every year.”

Conclusion

Why do I consider this technique an excellent suggestion for you to feel good? Because through it you will begin to appreciate the little things in life. Maybe you’re feeling unhappy because you’re not earning the amount you thought you could, but you can be happy when you get a single payment, can’t you? Maybe you’re looking for the person of your dreams and you’re not valuing that friend who is so special… maybe you’re wanting to buy a product and not valuing all the others you already have… maybe you’re wanting to go on an international trip and you are not giving due value to your home, such as having an electric shower, a comfortable bed…

Gradually, with this technique, you will start to value what you already have, what has already been accomplished, obtained, acquired, borrowed. You will start to value a call, an email, a contact, a sunny day, a rainy day, a napkin, a smile until you see that real happiness is independent of everything and anything that happens outside of you.

As Fernando Pessoa says in The Book of Disquiet: “Life is for us what we conceive of it. For the rustic whose field is everything to him, that field is an empire. For the Caesar whose empire is still too small for him, that empire is a field. The poor man has an empire; the big one has a field. In fact, we only have our own sensations; on them, therefore, and not on what they see, we have to base the reality of our life.”
