Crafts: turn the egg carton into a tasteful decoration

Have you ever thought of using the cardboard egg carton to create decorative objects? Know that it’s possible. With creativity, you can use it to make a message board, vase, lamp and even a toy. Check step by step:

What will you need: egg carton, silicone gun (hot glue), pointed scissors, craft knife, flat brush, craft brush, satin ribbon, round adhesive felt, Acrilex paint (skin and cadmium yellow, bright red, olive green, gray violet, white , blue and lavender), matte acrylic varnish, wire and white Christmas lights.

How to make: take the egg carton, eliminate the lid and just keep the base. Cut it so that only the middle part of the piece remains – the one with the “little hills” that separate the eggs. Then cut between the “hills” separating them. Finish the job by making a small hole on top of the piece for the lamp to pass through. If you want, decorate the sides with holes.

How to make: paint half of the box, inside and out, with green acrylic paint. Then splash red polka dots all over. When the paint dries, cover it with varnish. Make holes in the bottom of the piece to drain the irrigation water. When planting time, place pebbles at the bottom of the box, throw earth and grow basil, mint, rosemary….

If you want to hang your mini-vegetable garden, pierce the sides and pass a wire through the holes.

How to make: hot glue a carton of eggs to the base of another carton. Paint with acrylic paint and wait for it to dry. Decorate some egg holders with a design of stars, moon, flower… using a contrasting color paint. When dry, apply varnish to protect the paint. Use the holes that already come in the lid of the box to pass 40cm of satin ribbon; tie the ends together and hang the mural.

How to make: use the egg carton to create an original toy. Cut out the cocoons from the eggs and paint each one with acrylic paint in different colors. Allow to dry and decorate with paint drops. At the end, apply varnish. Make a hole in the sides of the cocoons and thread a thin wire through them to form the snake. The animal’s eyes and tongue are made of blue felt.
