Coraline DID exist and her story is even more chilling than the movie

Coraline and the secret door is one of the darkest kids (and adults) movies out there. But more disturbing than the film is the true story behind it.

It turns out that Coraline DID exist and his tragic fate served as the basis for stories, legends, books and of course the 2009 animated film directed by Henry Selick.

But the Coraline true story is far from a children’s story, much less one with a happy ending.

The true story of Coraline

Actually the movie Coraline It is based on the novel of the same name written by the British Neil Gaiman in 2002.

However, the original story comes from an old and chilling story from his hometown: Hampshire County, United Kingdom.

The story goes that on the outskirts of Hampshire there lived an old woman with her newborn granddaughter. His son and daughter-in-law had lost their lives in a terrible fire and the little girl had miraculously survived.

Time passed and the girl was never seen going out to play. Her grandmother kept her locked up and she didn’t allow anyone near her house, so she was nicknamed ‘The Bad Mother’.

So much mystery aroused the curiosity of several of the village children who, in a challenge of bravery, decided to wait until night to enter the mansion and meet the mysterious girl.

But when they entered they found no sign that a girl lived there, no clothes, no toys, the only thing they found was a crib.

The girl never survived the fire

Inside they found the corpse of a baby, almost completely burned, with buttons where the eyes should have been and seams where the mouth would have been.

Then they learned the truth: the girl had never survived the fire, the only thing the old woman had managed to recover was her body to which she clung as if she were still alive.

Children They fled the house in terror and they told their parents what they had seen. Finally the elderly woman was confined in a psychiatric hospital where she remained until the day of her death.
