Camouflage dark circles: how the permanent procedure works –

Recently, influencer and businesswoman Joyce Ferreira, went viral after sharing the result of an aesthetic procedure to camouflage permanent dark circles. However, the procedure did not go as expected and, instead of disguising the darkened color in the region, the influencer ended up with light spots (similar to concealer) below her eyes.

In general, camouflage is performed with tattoo ink in different situations in aesthetics, such as defining lips, disguising stretch marks and now, also in the thin skin around the eyes — which is not recommended by experts, who warn of the risks of this permanent “tattoo” in this region. “It is a complex and highly vascularized area, with delicate and thin skin and slow lymphatic circulation with a tendency, in some patients, to have local swelling”, explains the dermatologist. HOW CAMOUFLAGE IS DONE

Joyce reported on her Instagram account that dark circles had bothered her since she was a child and the paint used for the procedure had the same tone as her skin. “I remember that she asked for my foundation, mixed it so that it was my color and even said ‘bingo’ when she got it”, revealed Ferreira.

The camouflage of dark circles is carried out by means of equipment, pigments and tattoo needles. “It is a procedure in which the professional, through equipment with small needles, applies the pigment to the skin to camouflage color defects and unsightly scars on the skin,” he says. Bechara.

RISKS AND EFFECTS ON THE SKIN

Despite the initial idea to even out the skin tone, the color of the camouflage can change over time, causing spots around the eyes. “After the camouflage, it is already possible to see the difference in skin tone. Not to mention that exposure to the sun and aging over time, cause the skin to lose fibroblasts and collagen, and this modifies the phagocytes that encapsulated that ink in that location, thus worsening the skin texture and the coloring performed with the camouflage”, alerts the dermatologist Geisa Costa.

Furthermore, experts point the difficulty in removing the procedure (it is not even possible with the use of the laser) and the great risk of allergy to the components of the ink, serious infections in the skin and even in the eyes. “Camouflage is not the alternative to alleviate dark circles. Those who suffer from this condition should see a dermatologist to understand what can be done about it to even out the skin tone around the eyes”, he points out. Coast.
