Boy asks for a job at a traffic sign and gets a job after an artist redoes his sign

The story of Roberto Fernandes moved us. The 26-year-old young man from Rio Grande do Norte with many dreams and a backpack on his back, went to try to make a living in Jundiaí (SP) and, after months looking for a job without success, he had an idea: he used the little money she had to buy some cardboard and used the stationery attendant’s pen to make a poster asking for a job on a traffic sign.

Just like every young person dreams of growing up in life and looking for a better future, it was no different with Roberto, who decided to leave Rio Grande do Norte to have more opportunities in the “land of drizzle”. Arriving in the city, he started delivering some resumes – he counted more than 150. But, worried about the delay and without being called for even an interview, the young man had an idea that would change his life.

One fine day, Roberto took the last 75 cents he had in his pocket and went to buy some cardboard at the neighborhood stationery store. There, he took a common pen, borrowed from the store’s saleswoman, and wrote a very simple text: “I am looking for a job, can you help me?🇧🇷 So, he decided to put his shame aside and held the sign at the traffic lights on Jundiaí’s main avenue.

Her whole life changed when content producer, visual artist and tattoo artist Giuliana Vaia drove by the traffic lights where Roberto was holding his sign. Realizing that it was barely readable, he decided to do something to help. With her experience in the Art of Calligraphy, the girl took a card she had in her car and a pen that was available and made a new poster.

Made in a hurry in the back seat of Giuliana’s car, the personalized poster made all the difference in Roberto’s life. The girl had the idea of ​​making white letters on a black poster to attract more attention from passers-by. In addition, she took a photo and shared it on her social networks to help the boy.

With the new poster, everyone was able to better visualize the request for a job opportunity. Other people sympathetic to Roberto asked to take pictures, to publicize the request on the Internet. Soon, he was invited for an interview at a hotel chain and the person responsible for the selection said that his courageous attitude showed initiative, something that every recruiter looks for in an employee.

Roberto came to São Paulo to find a good job and help his family, as it was difficult to find a job in the city where he lived. He also came with the aim of studying Pharmacy at university, but those dreams could only come true if he got a job, which he had been looking for for a few months. The problem was that, until that moment, he found only closed doors.

Today, Roberto has a good job and has made a lot of effort to be able to help his aunt and mother, who still live in Rio Grande do Norte. Before all this sudden fame, the boy faced financial difficulties and even beat cancer. He came to São Paulo for his father’s wedding, found an opportunity to change his life and ended up staying.
