18 Hidden Details In “Red Alert” That Only The Most Attentive Fans Noticed

Netflix started out just licensing or buying movies from different studios and inserting them into its catalogue, but with the great success, the platform also started to produce its own stories, always with an envy cast — this is the case of Red Alert, long starring Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds. The film is a success on the platform, accumulating more than 320 million hours in the first month available. In addition to the visible notoriety and the great cast, the feature also gathered many references to pop culture.

1. “We’ll make it, Rose” is the phrase spoken by Jack in Titanic before the sinking. The same one that appears in English on the canoe, in a part of the plot

2. At one point, The Shawshank Redemption is quoted by Ryan Reynolds. The plot talks about a boy who is wrongfully arrested and escapes in a surprising way. Which dialogues directly with the film, whose script brings the same situation to one of the characters

4. Post Malone is a rapper who has many tattoos, as does the inmate in the kitchen. That is, for Booth, one of the characters, the two are similar, that’s why he calls him that way, drawing a parallel with the artist

5. “Take his precious” is a reference to the movie The Lord of the Rings and the phrase “My precious”. The sentence spoken by Gollum became very well known in the world of cinema, being attributed to a very valuable item for the characters in the plot.

6. Booth and Hartley are trapped in a Russian jail and need to find a way to escape the place; the escape scene with a stone wall that comes apart with a pull is a reference to the movie A Rocha, which has a very similar scene

7. This scene possibly refers to The Warriors, the 1979 film tells the story of an American gang. The plots themselves have nothing to do with each other, but the footage was shot in the same way, with the focus on the character’s mouth and the red background.

8. The fight scene between the characters with a shield and a spear is a tribute to Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot, who also stars in Red Alert

9. The masked ball that takes place in the film is a reference to Stanley Kubrick’s film, Eyes Wide Shut, which has part of its plot around the party. Even in Red Alert they make a direct quote to the feature film starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman

10. Alan Grant actually says a very similar phrase in Jurassic Park, the difference is that in the film he is referring to a dinosaur

11. The film quoted by Ryan Reynolds’ character tells the story of a filmmaker who pretends to be poor to make a feature film, he even takes a freight train, as the characters are doing in the frame below, which is why Booth cites the long

12. Ryan Reynolds’ father is a retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer, coincidence or not, but Booth’s father, his character in Red Alert, is also

Near the end of the film, Booth pulls out a watch that would belong to his father and that would solve part of the problem in the plot, Hartley questions him about the origin of the object and the character played by Ryan Reynolds says that he is the same one from Pulp Fiction, a joke with the face of the partner

16. “Look for a box with McGuffin” on it, this is a joke made by Booth. The word “McGuffin” is used a lot in the world of cinema and means something that the protagonist seeks, although the plot does not explain – exactly what is happening in the frame in question.

17. The chase scene is reminiscent of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In the Indiana film, the characters also have a car chase, with the right to a detour as in the image, and also a fight with the right to dispute for a purse.

18. Vin Diesel known for his action movies, has already auditioned for Cats, which in addition to being a musical, was massacred by critics. This wouldn’t be as much of an issue if he didn’t have a beef with Dwayne Johnson.
