Blisters and calluses: how to prevent and treat –

Exercise makes the body more beautiful, brings many health benefits, but the feet and hands are usually harmed. Dermatologist Silvia Zimbres and personal trainer Daniel Neves teach you how to avoid, minimize and treat blisters and calluses, common injuries for those who practice sports!

Bubble

If you work out often, you’ve probably suffered from blisters. Caused, most of the time, by the friction of the foot with the sock or sneakers or by the duration of the exercises, these inflammations appear in the shape of a water bag.

In addition to physical agents – running and exercise -, blisters can also arise as a result of fungi that develop in damp places on the body, especially between the toes.

How to avoid:

· Choose socks with sports materials, which help to drain the heat and sweat caused by exercise.

· Opt for shoes with a larger number

· Tie the shoelaces well so that the foot does not become loose and suffer greater friction

How to treat:

· Never pop a bubble.

· Let the blister wither by itself and cover it so that it does not bother or get worse with exercise.

· If the blister is blood, it must be punctured in the first few hours after formation so that the blood does not clot.

· See a doctor in case of infection, if the blister is hot, very red or with yellow discharge (pus).

Calluses

The repetition of movements in the gym causes calluses, as well as the prolonged use of tennis. The damage, however, is more aesthetic, after all, you are only prevented from training if the region hurts.
