Beta male: what it is and what its characteristics are – Methods to Flirt

Although each person is different and has a very particular history and repertoire of attitudes, skills and behaviors, there is also a very popular denomination in which men can be classified as Alpha males, Beta males and Omega males.

Alpha males are at the top of the hierarchical chain, they are confident, aggressive and achievement-oriented.

Omega males are at the end of the chain and it takes a lot of work (not to mention finding a partner) to simply fit into society. But today we will talk about the intermediate type: the Beta male.

Beta males are generally passive and always in the shadow of an alpha’s authority or achievements. It should be noted that no person can be strictly labeled as belonging to any of these categories.

Although there are people who are quite close to the stereotype, we repeat that they are all different and unique. So we are only talking about general approximations.

Just as among animals it is easy to define who is the alpha male of the pack and who are the beta, among humans, with some observation, we can clearly see who is the alpha in the office, among his group of friends in a context familiar.

These roles can change and the same person who functions as an alpha in one aspect may be a beta or an omega in another.

Beta males do not necessarily live poorly. They are usually loyal, friendly, and are excellent companions and collaborators. But to truly succeed in business, romance, and life, being beta does represent something of a disadvantage.

Many beta men regret being so passive and feel that other people handle the important decisions in their life. Furthermore, they feel that they are not masters of their destinies and believe that they are worthless.

What is a beta male?

Generally, betas are the followers of alphas, who are the leaders.

Although pigeonholing a person as a “beta” is unethical, it is often clear who assumes a commanding position and who is more docile and goes with the flow.

Beta is the second letter of the Greek alphabet. So a good way to define them is as the second-class men in society.

Looking at it objectively, a second place finish isn’t so bad. The problem is that advertising and the system bombard us all with tremendous demands and try to convince us that you can only be happy being an alpha.

Many beta men are perfectly fine as they are. But many others are not and would like to go first. All the discussion and controversy between alphas and betas appears because some betas want to be in the place of an alpha.

Characteristics of beta men

Each one has its particular features. Pay close attention so that you can identify them and know if we are really in front of beta man:

1) Lack of assertiveness

Beta men are not usually very assertive. Many times they accept tasks or orders that they don’t really have to follow because they are afraid of disappointing others or they don’t know how to decline or how to say no.

The problem does not lie in the fact that they agree to do things for others, but in the way in which it is difficult for them to prevent other people from abusing this. They have a hard time defending a position and constantly feel guilty when they try.

Just as they are dedicated and loyal, they can be somewhat cowardly when it comes to it. The problem is that the beta can accumulate stress, resentment and anger like a pressure cooker.

For this reason, many times people we consider completely normal and standard suddenly explode for no apparent reason and cause big problems in these outbursts of blind rage, which are actually due to years of dissatisfaction with their Beta status.

Most beta males are passive or passive-aggressive. They do not react immediately to insults and usually argue that “everything is fine” when deep down they do not feel well at all.

They let their bosses exploit them at work and things like that, but when they are alone and feel free, things change.

Your pent-up emotions can overflow and create all kinds of emotional problems that can even harm your health. This is the dark side of beta males. The contained aggression.

For example, many beta males will be very concerned about putting on a friendly face and will avoid conflict at all costs, even if it is sometimes necessary.

Either way, that anger will find its way out one way or another. It’s just that it is released in unhealthy ways that can even harm other people or the beta male himself much more than handling anger assertively would have done in the moment.

2) Herd mentality

Beta males are, by definition, the followers in society. Positions of power are not normally held by this class, nor do they seek them out very actively.

They tend to compensate for these shortcomings by being very gregarious and having a great spirit of attachment and even fanaticism about certain things. They feel comfortable being an audience rather than a protagonist.

While alphas typically set trends, betas are at risk of following fashions and social demands of all kinds that may not be entirely in line with their personality, but do so out of a very deep and deep-rooted need to belong.

Another characteristic of betas is that they spend a lot of time supporting and promoting other people’s causes. And when this is done out of true conviction it is fine, but not when it is done to be liked by others.

Needless to say, it is thanks to the betas that the alphas get followers and audiences to applaud them.

Characteristics of Beta males

3) The prototype of the good guy

Unfortunately, beta males, although they are excellent people, are always left behind and outdone by the liveliness and boldness of alpha males.

It’s not that it’s bad in itself to be a beta, but it’s difficult to stand out when you don’t have the necessary tools to compete with the alphas.

That’s why betas choose to keep a low profile, because they don’t feel in a position to compete with other, more successful men, not because they don’t want to.

They are too kind to impose themselves on others and achieve their goals. An alpha male, for example, will return a dish that he does not like in a restaurant.

And a beta will finish it without daring to tell the waiter that he didn’t like it, even if it is evident that the dish was not good. The same thing happens with women.

An alpha will step over whoever he has to to get the attention of a girl who has caught his eye. A beta will limit his strategies to a fairly passive approach and wait for the other party to take the initiative. For this reason, alphas have a much better chance of getting what they want in life.

Beta boys are typical nice but passive boys, not very assertive and gregarious. Some of them are happy with this social role because they have other passions and interests that they can cultivate in private with complete freedom, such as art or reading.

But the problem comes when they want to belong to the alpha group. This generates many feelings of frustration and existential emptiness.

However, what some resentful beta males forget is that, broadly speaking, most men fall into this category, which, although a little ambiguous, does mark a common denominator.

Not being an alpha male does not necessarily mean being a boring person. Only one is not a person who actively and by all means seeks to have the lifestyle with which advertisements and publicity bombard us daily.

Many alpha males are aware that these stereotypes are unattainable and are dedicated to pursuing more realistic personal goals. They know that appearance and social success aren’t everything, and they don’t care much if they don’t stand out in a competitive world.

Other betas feel genuinely inferior and feel that they do not deserve that standard of living or popularity. In reality they think they are “second class” citizens. We would say this is the beta that causes problems.

The one who lives dissatisfied all the time. And no, it’s not about being conformist, just about putting priorities in perspective.

Some beta males only want the success of alpha males because they have bought into the idea that this is the right way to live, not because they really need it.

Others feel unable to attract beautiful, stunning women, and don’t realize they could access women normal and have very satisfying and real emotional relationships.

This is the kind of man who can go in a second from being a “nice guy” to being a complete jerk when frustration boils over. And it’s actually quite logical.

It’s frustrating to be passive all the time. If you have behaved this way all your life, putting up with many things that you really don’t like, it is not at all surprising that one day you can’t take it anymore.

And if you start to recognize yourself in any of these descriptions, please do something to change it, for your own good.

4) They do not understand the dynamics of the relationship very well

Beta males typically do not ask women out very actively, but instead act passively waiting for the other party to take the initiative.

Which, in a world marked by a strong and perhaps retrograde tendency for men to take it, doesn’t leave them many opportunities to date.

Furthermore, this brings them dangerously close to the dreaded “friend zone” or “Friend zone” from which it is quite difficult to escape. One of the great characteristics of the beta male is that it is difficult for him to have satisfactory romantic relationships.

A very common scenario is that of a very dominant woman with a beta male, in which the relationship has been achieved thanks to her taking the initiative, but she is also usually too bossy or demanding.

The beta male, instead of giving himself his place, agrees to everything and ends up accumulating resentment and with his self-esteem shattered.

They are generally the right victims of women who try to be alphas but have low self-esteem and need to dominate another person to feel good.

A beta male, although he actually has a lot to offer, feels that he does not and behaves as if it were little. How he projects this image outwards and most people do not take the time to investigate further.

Everyone is left with the idea that it’s not really worth much. But this is a matter of attitudes and impressions, it is not reality.

Either way, they close the doors to accessing the women they are attracted to. Alpha males, on the other hand, act as if they were more than they are, and in this way they manage to attract attention and get what they want.

5) They don’t project much masculinity

Alpha males take advantage of any opportunity to show that they are very manly. And that includes spending hours in the gym, being adventurous, bold, daring and aggressive.

The beta male does not have these impulses too deeply ingrained. And although he may be much more civilized and functional in society than an aggressive alpha, the beta is at risk of being considered “less…
