Proof of this is data from the Brazilian Tennis Confederation (CBT), which manages the sport in the country: while in 2021 there were 400,000 beach tennis players, in 2022 that number reached 1.1 million, which is equivalent to an increase of 175%.

“People learn to play very quickly and it becomes a fun moment even for those who have never played. Also, it is a great alternative to improve physical conditioning and quality of life as a whole”, says the professional.

Another positive point is that beach tennis is a democratic modality, as it can be practiced at all ages, subject to medical evaluation and authorization.

“It is necessary to analyze the condition of the joints, muscle strength and physical conditioning, to check the aptitude and conditions to perform the sport. This guidance applies to everyone, but especially to pregnant women, people with advanced degrees of obesity or pre-existing chronic diseases”, emphasizes the specialist.

According to the physiotherapist, the practice spends about 600 calories per game hour. Therefore, it helps in weight maintenance.

“Since it is usually practiced on sand, the sport requires more effort from the legs, which contributes to strengthening the limbs”, explains the professional.

“In addition, it also tones the arms and abdomen due to the movements with the racket, causing greater impact on the joints”, he adds.
