As an orixá of great strength, the bath of Oxalá has the power to block evil in all areas of a person’s life. It can be done by everyone and it has yet another particularity: it is the only bath in which we can wash the crown chakra, at the top of the head.

Oxalá bath: how to do it

Oxalá’s day is Friday. Therefore, the Oxalá bath will have even more strength and power if it is done on that day of the week. In addition, it is interesting to prepare the environment for bathing. After all, an energy-balancing bath is not the same as the one you take in the shower every day.

Choose a quiet time in your day and preferably when you know you won’t be interrupted. If you want, you can play soft music and light incense and scented candles to help you relax and build a pleasant atmosphere.

Do a meditation and a personal prayer at the beginning of your bath ritual, before you even start preparing the ingredients. Mentalize the reason that is leading you to take the Oxalá bath and what you would like to happen in this dimension of your life.

Oxalá bath with boldo

One of the most common Oxalá baths is made with boldo, and there are two ways to do it. The first one is quite simple, and you will only need a shampoo with natural boldo extract. Before washing the head with the shampoo, rub the scalp, washing it only in running water. Let it rest for three minutes.

Then wash your hair with boldo shampoo, always thinking about what you want to clean in your life. Rinse with plenty of water and feel the energies being renewed.

The other recipe is a little more elaborate.

Ingredients:

  • 3 boldo leaves (also known as carpet of Oxalá);
  • Petals of 3 white roses;
  • 3 sprigs of rose (also known as wild mint or horse mint)
  • bucket;
  • White cloth.

Preparation:

Macerate the herbs and petals in water while making your requests for peace, protection and opening the paths of love and money to Oxalá. Let the mixture rest for 4 hours in a bucket, covered with a white cloth.

Strain the contents and fill the bucket with water halfway. Take your shower normally. At the end, with the shower off, pour the mixture from the bucket all over your body, from head to toe. Throw the leftover herbs into a garden.

Oxalá bath to open paths

Ingredients:

  • petals of 3 white roses;
  • petals of 3 white carnations;
  • petals of 3 white palms;
  • 1 spoon of sugar;
  • 1 glass of animal milk (cow, goat, sheep).

Preparation:

Boil 5 liters of water and, when it boils, add the other ingredients. Stir with a spoon clockwise, turn off the heat and leave to infuse for 5 hours.

Strain the contents into a clean bucket and add more water directly from the shower. Play over the entire body, from head to toe. Meanwhile, make your requests to the orixá.

After the bath, light a white candle for Oxalá and another for your guardian angel. Say a personal prayer to the orixá and the angel. Finally, dispose of the herbs and flowers used for the bath in a garden, compost or organic waste.

Canjica bath for Oxalá: how to do it

This Oxalá bath can be done to ask for protection and opening the paths in general for the orixá. The ritual must be performed at dusk.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg of hominy corn;
  • Coconut soap;
  • vegetable loofah;
  • large pot, with a capacity of 12 liters;
  • sugar;
  • white 7 day candle.

Preparation:

Choose the hominy corn well, removing and discarding all that are spoiled, with black or yellow spots. Put to cook in a large pot, with 10 liters of water. When it boils, remove the water and set aside to cool.

Return the corn to the heat and add enough water to finish cooking. When it’s cooked, let it cool.

Take the first cold cooking water and proceed to the bath. Take a cold shower first, with running water from the shower. Rub the whole body with coconut soap and vegetable loofah and make a lot of foam on the head.

After rinsing, while still wet, take the hominy water and bring it to your mouth. Ask Oxalá to remove the evils from your body and open the paths of your health, love and prosperity. Pour all the water over her head, letting her wash her entire body.

After the bath, stay in the shower for a while, feeling the energy circulate through your body. Don’t dry yourself and wear light clothes, preferably white.

Get out of the bathroom and pour a glass of iced, sugary water into a white plate. Light a 7-day candle and place it next to the glass, in a high place in the house. The plate should be taller than you are standing. Say a prayer to your guardian angel.

Take the cooked white hominy and, in handfuls, throw it on top of your house. Ask Oxalá to remove all evils from the environment, to bring peace, health and prosperity to your home.
