What is American straightening?

It is a procedure that combines relaxation and hydration to protect the wires from drying and the occurrence of split and brittle ends. According to hairdresser Tabita Adácia, American straightening changes the hair structure from curly to wavy or from curly to straight.
It is important to remember that this technique is not recommended for any type of hair. The suggestion is that it be done only on curly hair. It is also not suitable for chemically treated hair, especially guanidine, which is the product’s active ingredient.

How does American straightening work?

As stated above, the active principle is guanidine, which, by the way, is the same as in capillary relaxation. Guanidine is known to change hair structure from the outside in. The application process lasts from 25 to 45 minutes, including the smoothing and hydration phases, and touch-ups should be done every 2 months.
Tabita Adácia explains that it is a chemical process that must be evaluated by a professional before being done, and suggests that a strand test be done together with a diagnosis to know if the hair is ready or not to receive the procedure.
