According to a study, men who collaborate with household chores are more attractive

The concept of masculinity is constantly evolving and, therefore, the place that men occupy today, both in society and at home, is not the same as that used to be occupied by our fathers or grandfathers. The family stereotype in which the man was the provider and the woman responsible for domestic affairs, including raising children, was definitely left behind.

The female space has long since been limited to the home. Women are increasingly occupying leadership positions in business and politics, and many of them surpass their husbands in terms of income. All of this leads men to rethink their role in the relationship. And that involves, of course, how they deal with domestic issues.

Oriel Sullivan, a sociologist at Ben Gurion University in Israel, and Scott Coltrane, a sociologist at the University of California, conducted research entitled “Changes in male contribution to household chores and child care” and came to the conclusion that women feel more satisfied when the partner participates in household chores.

This not only makes them feel relieved of the weight of solving all the household issues. According to the study, the more the man collaborates in the housework, the greater the frequency of romantic encounters, since the fact that the man assumes this new role makes him more attractive to the woman.

One of the reasons that would explain this increase in the frequency of intimate encounters could be the availability of time. After all, in a situation where she assumes responsibility for all household chores, a woman often does not have the time or inclination to stay with her partner.

By helping at home, the man creates more favorable moments not only for intimacy but also for sharing conversations and activities that contribute to a closer relationship with his wife. This helps to reduce the occurrence of friction that can affect the relationship and that are characteristic of relationships in which there is no communication between spouses.

The studies are based on statistics and, therefore, it cannot be said that the results work in all cases. It is also not possible to categorically state that it is enough for a man to wear kitchen aprons and clean the house for a troubled relationship to improve. Each couple has its own dynamic and its own reality.

But the fact is that, by considering household chores as a matter for both spouses, the man helps to build the relationship from a new perspective. The woman will feel that her partner helps her and understands that everything that happens in the house is the responsibility of both of them. And a thoughtful man who respects his partner’s time will be more likely to be attractive than one who doesn’t act that way.
