9 Unusual Uses for Wax or Paraffin

Surely, the first thing you think of when you hear the word ‘paraffin wax’ is candles. And chances are, you thought, “Well, it’s just wax, nothing too unusual or useful.” If that’s your case, then this post will surprise you, as this product can be used in different ways, thanks to its multiple properties.

O awesome.club prepared for you some uses and benefits of paraffin, and shares everything below:

1. Preserve jellies

If you have a yard and harvest a lot of fruit, you certainly like to make your own jams. But the homemade version of these sweets has less sugar and does not contain chemical preservatives like those sold in supermarkets, and precisely because of this it spoils more quickly. A good way to preserve your homemade jams is to seal the containers so that the product is not exposed to the air.

You can do this in the following way:

Get quality food wax. Melt it. Slowly pour it over the jam and slowly rotate the container, making sure it is completely sealed.

2. Seal bottles

3. Lubricate drawers

Wooden drawers are beautiful, but as time passes, their use becomes difficult, as they get stuck and opening them becomes very difficult. To lubricate the frame, simply rub a spark plug on the runner contact areas.

4. Waxed doors and windows

Over time, windows and doors also tend to get stuck. To be able to always open and close them smoothly, and to keep those sliders easy to slide, just run a candle over the structure.

5. Fix zippers

If your zipper has gotten stuck, a candle is the best solution:

Clean the zipper. Lightly rub a candle above and below the zipper. If necessary, repeat the process several times.

6. Shovel for collecting snow

If it often snows where you live, then you may have had to clean your driveway. Sometimes the snow can stick to the shovel, making the cleaning job more difficult, making it more tiring and time consuming. Paraffin helps to cope with this disaster.

Just wax the snow shovel! The trick also works with skis or snowboards.

7. Preserve your cutting board

Wooden chopping boards are not usually easy to clean. That’s how much a paraffin treatment can help.

Use food wax. Apply a small amount of paraffin to a clean cloth. Gently rub the board, covering it in its entirety. Allow the wood to fully absorb the wax. Remove any paraffin residue with a dry, clean cloth. Repeat the procedure if necessary.

8. Hand treatment

We use our hands for everything, so they are always exposed to water, cold and heat. Therefore, it is not surprising that the skin in this region dries out easily. Paraffin treatment is ideal to keep them hydrated and soft.

Dip your hands in melted wax at a low temperature. You may need to repeat the process several times to get a good layer of paraffin on your skin. Put your hand in a plastic bag. Then place the hand with the bag in a cloth glove. Wait 10 to 15 minutes and then gently remove the paraffin. Repeat the process with the other hand.

9. Foot treatment

This process is very similar to treating hands.

Dip your feet in low temperature melted wax. You may need to repeat the process several times to get a good layer of paraffin on your skin. Place your feet in a clear plastic bag. Wrap your feet with towels. Wait 10 to 15 minutes, then gently remove the wax.
