8 ways to use orange peel at home

After tasting the fruit, no throwing the “packaging” in the trash! Rich in essential oil and citric acid, the rind gives the oil a very special flavor, eliminates microwave stains, leaves windows and tiles shining… Learn these and other tricks – as a bonus, your house will smell wonderful!

1. Very, very bright glass

Over time, the material becomes opaque because it accumulates minerals on the surface. To restore the vigor of glasses, bowls and other objects, immerse them for five minutes in a sink filled with hot water with a handful of orange peel. Then wash the parts as usual. The citric acid strips away the minerals, giving them back an incredible shine.

2. Vapt-vupt barbecue

Let a good amount of orange peel dry in advance and place it on the grill when you light the fire, instead of the newspaper. The oils present in it contain limonene, a flammable substance that will make the flame appear quickly.

3. Dog away from vases

To prevent your furry friend from fussing with plants, sprinkle some fresh orange peels on the ground. As the citrus odor is very strong for the dogs’ sense of smell, which is very sensitive, your pet will pass away from the vases. Once a day, squeeze the peels a little, so that they release that smell. Change them when they dry.

4. Goodbye, tea stains

You know that brown tone ring that the drink leaves at the bottom of the cup? Sprinkle some salt on the inside of an orange peel and rub it over the marks. The abrasive action of the spice, along with the citric acid in the peel, will eliminate the tannic acid responsible for the stains. Result? New crockery again!

5. Very tasty oil

Here’s a recipe: chop three pieces of orange peel and blend in a food processor with 1 cup (tea) of olive oil. Reserve the mixture for an hour and strain. You’ve just won a seasoning with a citrus flavor, perfect for adding to any dish!

6. Loose brown sugar

Before it becomes stoned, put a piece of orange peel (without the remains of pomace) in the package. The assets present in it prevent the formation of hard balls. Replace the shell once a month.

7. More than perfect cleaning

Windows, tiles and floors will be gleaming with this trick: place a portion of orange peels in a jar, add white vinegar until they are covered and set aside for four weeks, stirring occasionally. Then dilute the mixture in two equal parts of water and the product will be ready – the citric acid from the peel and the acetic acid from the vinegar will easily remove dust and dirt. In addition, the formula still works to eliminate accumulated mold in the bathroom.

Place the peel of four oranges in a bowl of water and heat in the appliance for five minutes at high power. The steam from the water will loosen the dried dirt and the citric acid in the peels will dissolve it, making it easier to clean the oven.
