Check out!

Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks

Rita Wilson recalled the meeting she had with the princess on her Instagram:

“Tom Hanks and I were privileged to meet Princess Diana at the Apollo 13 launch event in London. She couldn’t have been more graceful, charming, funny and kind. She was expecting our second child at that time and she kept asking me if I was comfortable and if I needed anything. She was a laughing and committed person.

I think she felt like someone ‘normal’. But, when she got up from the table, it became apparent that she was not ‘normal’🇧🇷 The entire restaurant fell silent and watched her as she walked past the tables to the ladies room. With great skill, she managed to show us that it was safe to hold the hand of a person with HIV/AIDS, to treat the homeless with dignity and to have love for humanity. I often wonder what she would have done if she were alive. God bless your soul.”

Cindy Crawford

Supermodel Cindy Crawford shared her memories of meeting Lady Di:

“I remember this inspiring woman. This photograph was taken at Kensington Palace. Princess Diana had somehow gotten my office number and called herself to ask for me. My assistant was in shock! We finally got in touch and she asked me if the next time I was in London would she stop by for tea — I think Prince William was starting to pay attention to models and she thought it would be a cute surprise for him and Prince Harry.

I was nervous I didn’t know what to wear, but I remember that as soon as she entered the room and we started talking, it was like talking to a friend. She was very elegant and showed us what a modern princess should be like. Rest in peace.”

Elton John

British musician Elton John, who had friendly relations with the princess, published an autobiographical book in 2019, I, Elton John, where he shared his memories about Diana. The musician said his first meeting with her took place in 1981, on Prince Andrew’s 21st birthday, at Windsor Castle, just before the future Princess of Wales’s wedding to Prince Charles.

According to Elton John, Lady Di was able to fit freely into any environment and had the ability to make people feel absolutely comfortable in your presence🇧🇷 The musician believes that in 1987, at Middlesex Hospital in London, when the Princess of Wales opened the first department in the UK for people with AIDS and shook hands with a patient, in that moment she forever changed the public’s attitude towards to AIDS.

Dmitri Hvorostovsky

The world-famous Russian musician recalled his meeting with Lady Di

“I had an interesting encounter with the late Princess Diana. I remember that story and regret it to this day. I sang at a concert and then I met her. She invited me to dinner. Aside from other authorities, I was the only one of my ‘brotherhood’ of artists. They reserved a seat for me next to her.that is, I spent the whole night talking to her.

That same day a friend was having a birthday, but I preferred dinner with Diana. I had time to talk to her. At that time (1991-1992), there were only rumors about her breakup with Charles. From what I remember now, her eyes looked completely sad, cut off from the whole world. We took a picture.”

lily collins

“I am honored to have known Princess Diana as a little girl,” wrote Lily Collins. “I will never forget that moment,” added the actress and daughter of English musician Phil Collins.

Liza Minnelli

Liza Minnelli spoke about Diana:

“I was lucky enough to consider Princess Di as my friend. I met her when she came backstage after the show what i did in london🇧🇷 After that we met at premieres or events where she was the guest of honor. First I exchanged a few words with her and then we got to know each other better over tea. We talked about everything in the world. She loved music.”

George Michael

The British singer shared his memories of the Princess:

“I’ve met her probably a dozen times. I always laughed with her and really admired her. I think she was so good that she couldn’t hold on to what was happening to herself and keep giving more and more to other people. I think she was really a great person. Our generation grew up with such cynicism about humanity and it made us think again. I really believe that she was a beacon of compassion and hope.🇧🇷

mother Teresa

After Diana’s death, Mother Teresa wrote her condolences saying, “She took great care of the poor. She really wanted to do something for them, and it was beautiful. That’s why she was close to me.”

Bonus: Princess Diana and Freddie Mercury

The press often writes that the Princess of Wales had a close friendship with Freddie Mercury. This is because actress Cleo Rocos said in her memoir that Mercury once dressed Diana as a man so they could go to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern club. Supposedly, the group consisted of Cleo Rocos, Kenny Everett, Freddie Mercury and the Queen’s daughter-in-law, who had a great time and no one recognized Diana.

But this story turned out to be a fabrication. Peter Freestone, Mercury’s personal assistant, biographer and friend, wrote about it on his blog and also told the Daily Express. According to Freestone, the legendary musician never met Diana, let alone took her to a bar disguised as a man.

Peter says that even during the international charity music festival Live Aid, Freddie missed the opportunity to meet Diana. When fellow Queen musicians Brian May and Roger Taylor ended up in the royal box after the performance, Freddie opted to watch the shows backstage behind the curtains and hang out with friends.
