7 common types of violence we face

Violence is one of those epidemics that knows few limits or boundaries. Unfortunately it has taken on many faces and we can find it anywhere on the planet. From some formulas for which they ask or complain to us to the bloodiest wars that claim hundreds of lives in too many places. Furthermore, although we do not directly participate in the latter, we do witness them and they end up affecting us to different degrees.

It seems that aggressiveness, or a part of it, is written in our genetic inheritance; however, Violence, which is a form of manifestation of this aggressiveness, is cultural. It is learned and reproduced (and therefore taught and validated). Furthermore, and for the same reason, it can also be unlearned and stopped being encouraged.

Violence is the fear of the ideals of others”.

-Mahatma Gandhi-

To make it, One of the most important steps is to identify the forms it takes to manifest itself.. Below we will make a small inventory of its most common stagings.

1. Economic violence

This type of violence has two faces . One of them is direct and the other is covert.. Direct economic violence is that which is openly exercised against your property or assets. Thefts, scams, scams and all those actions in which your finances end up being affected in an illegal and unfair way.

Covert economic violence corresponds to the internal mechanisms of the system economic that affect your interests. It happens when, for example, in the dynamics of the labor market wages drop and you are forced to face unfair competition (others earn little and are hired more easily). Also, of course, when apparently fair measures are imposed that actually serve other people’s interests.

This is the case of a service that is provided poorly or half-heartedly, causing you harm. Or also violence in medical institutions where they often ignore or minimize your pain.

3. Sexual and/or gender violence

Although we are in the 21st century, violence against women not only persists, but in some cases it has increased. This type of aggression has gender motivations as such. This means that it is inflicted because women do or do not do what men, or other women, expect or demand of them.

Men are also victims of sexual and emotional violence by women and other men. Sometimes prejudices or rejections appear for the simple fact of being men. Unfortunately, reports of sexual abuse of minors by women have also increased.

4. Cultural violence

These types of sects use the fear and confusion of followers to obtain money from them, either directly or indirectly (with their work or willingness to attract more followers).. They are often the emissaries of macabre messages about the end of the world and the destruction of the human race. From them and using the fear that they can inspire, they break the will of believers and obtain what they want.

6. Cyberbullying

With the appearance of social networks, a new form of harassment began to proliferate. One way or another, New technologies make the work of harassers easier, since they provide cover of anonymity to the most cowardly. Likewise, the laws of different countries are still not very clear on the subject and that is why many violent behaviors go unpunished.

Likewise, the possibility of capturing images and broadcasting them in real time is available to everyone; a possibility used by many and that has given rise to new forms of violence.
